I was just wondering because it would mix up the game a bit, by destructible environments i don’t mean everything just crumbles when you throw a grenade at it, i mean that on forge you could maybe select a weakened wall with a crack in it so it can be destroyed, i believe this would add a new element to Halo, but before you all start saying it would wreck the game this would only be for custom made maps and maybe a few that 343 creates and don’t worry not all of the walls could be destroyed.
Also i believe that the walls that do not get destroyed should recieve visual damage for the whole match, for example bullet holes, this could also affect the players armor for when there shields are down so bullet holes and cracks could appear in their armor, just for fun.
Maybe, but they shouldn’t make it get out of hand, what I’m saying is I don’t want entire buildings blowing up and showing a white space or just the background (I belive Battlefield 3 shows what I’m talking about, but thats only from what I read). I just want dents and cracks and stuff that doesn’t really matter as to whether or not it should be there to collapse (Scaffolding for example) and no cover being blown off after taking enough damage (Lost Planet had this but it wasn’t that tactical in that game nor was cover really needed for that so it was fine, but Halo isn’t just a run and gun game, you have to make use of cover from time to time unlike in Lost Planet where your health recharges immediatly after taking damage in you have sufficient Thermal Energy which slowly depletes).
But wasn’t there mostly unnoticable enviornment destruction in past Halo games such as breaking glass?
Only the things that make sense. I realized that in Reach, you can hide behind a pile of dry grass and the Spirits Plasma Canon can’t do any harm to it. That really doesn’t make sense.
But I don’t want the whole map destroyed either. So, just a little.
There’s been quite a few posts about this, and from what I can tell most people (including me) want them, but limited somewhat.
Like you said, I don’t want entire buildings blown up instantly. It would be too easy for someone in a Scorpion to just rip apart an enemy base. The structures need to be strong, enough that anyone inside a building under attack can fight back before it crumbles.
That’s just online. Online is fine without it too.
I would really like to see it in Forge (especially if you could toggle it on and off).
> No way it wasn’t in Halo 1-3, its not real Halo, that would be a BF rip off and Halo is already CoD in space!!!

ACTUALLY it WAS in halo 2
anyone remember the destructible walls on zanzibar? or the stalagmite thingys on waterworks? my 2 cents

I remember that, however the 360 just can’t take on entire destructible environments, since it’s lack of RAM.

He does bring up a good question, but even if halo 4 won’t have destructible environments halo 5 could implement this if done right
Ehhh, its definitely a great concept and a very cool one, but I just can’t picture it in Halo. Im not going to sit here and say, “THATS NOT HALO! HERETICS!!!” I just wouldn’t want to see it in Halo. Its still a very cool concept and I wouldn’t be angry at all if it was.

What if it’s only visual like Crysis 2 and Gears of War? Nothing game changing just a little detail.
