Since it’s now official that Destiny comes out 9/9/14, it makes me wonder if this gives us any insight about the release date of Halo 5. I’m sure lots of guys at 343 are friends with Bungie guys and while they can’t share some stuff, they obviously know how release dates of hugely anticipated games influence the release dates of other hugely anticipated games. My guess is that Halo 5 won’t be coming out in fall of 2014 since there is no reason to put Halo vs Destiny within similar Fall launch windows, and Halo 5 comes out in Fall of 2015.
I really hope they hold off on Halo 5 until 2015.
-Too many good games coming out next year (and a lot of shooters).
-Gives 343 more time to perfect gameplay, campaign, forge, new game modes, etc.
-2 year dev cycle seems a bit short for Halo.
Between Destiny, The Division, Elder Scrolls Online, and the next Call of Duty, I think Halo 5 in 2015 makes more sense.

Halo 5’s 2014 release date seems pretty solid, and I’d doubt that 343i/Microsoft would be wanting to delay the game. Without a Halo by 2014, Microsoft has no competetion to give to the other games that you’ve mentioned, and the Xbox One still wouldn’t have any game-changing exclusives.
Halo in 2014 is better for everyone, and I’m confident that we’ll be getting a “finished” product.

2014 is D-Day for Halo 5 with serious heavy hitting competition. If the game isn’t polished, is rushed and kicked out the door so MS can have their game-changing exclusive, then Halo has no hope.
I can’t say I share your confidence
A Halo will be coming out on the Xbox one in 2014, but I doubt it will be Halo 5.
Why would Destiny’s release date have anything to do with the release date of Halo 5? Both games are going to be published by different companies, being Activision and Microsoft. The release date for both games has definitely been set for a long time, and neither company has any way of knowing about the other’s plans.
So I’m still expecting Halo 5 to be released in Fall 2014.
There are few games that have such a strong cross-over scifi shooter fan base as Destiny and Halo. Two great teams that shouldn’t battle for the exact same customer at the exact same time. I want both to have huge success.
Most of the “Halo” games have been Fall releases.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to assume when 343 might release the next Halo.

As long as the game turns out to be great and a finished product at launch it should do fine. I think the biggest challenge the next Halo will have is to prove itself. 2014 is going to be an interesting year for sure and hopefully 343i knows that the next Halo just can’t fail.

All of BUNGiE and 343’s Halo’s have been fall releases. The reason I say BUNGiE and 343 is because Ensemble Studios went out and released Halo Wars in March of 2009.
Well let’s look at the history of Halo releases:
Halo CE - November
Halo 2 - November
Halo 3 - September
Halo Reach - November
Halo CE Anniversary - November
Halo 4 - November
I think it’s safe to say Halo 5 will be out in November.
I believe that halo 5 should come out in 2015, so 343i can make it the best it can be and not half–Yoink- it.

Well, 343i does have a team of around 50-60 people out of 300+ total staff working on Halo 5 (Halo 4 had 25, Bungie had around 30 with their games). So, I think it’s fair to say that 2 years (more like 2 and a half years) is plenty of time to make a solid product.

This. 343i is a large team now, work on 5 started just before 4’s release as well.
It has been already been confirmed that Halo Xbox One is coming in 2014.
Thus, it has also been confirmed that Halo Xbox One will not be coming 2015.

November looks the be the best month next year
Halo 5 will likely come out in Fall, as always. Probably November, as always.

As always, November, Best month: Football, good weather, Halo. At least in TX it’s the best weather.
