"Despite excitement around the gameplay"

Honestly, I’m sick of seeing everybody avoiding the fact that the gameplay reveal it’s not ok: 343 once again chose to follow modern shooters with spint and stuff instead of giving us what we need, basically halo 2 + thruster pack.
Furthermore, i cannot get over that they contraddicted their art design (and so the lore design): the banished were red, aggressive, powerful, covered by spikes, tribal. Now we have once again a covenant faction…

But you do know that you are not speaking for the entire community? Just because you are acting reactionary, it does not mean that everyone does not like changes. For me, it is the perfect balance between old and new.

If Halo: Infinite’s as big a world as they say it is (and from what we saw, it looked big), you can be damn sure that Halo 2 movement and thruster pack just isn’t going to cut it. Not too mention nobody is going to force you to sprint around. It’s entirely optional.

Halo 5 is already superior to infinite

Imagine there are devices specifically designed for fast travel around bigger areas. Just imagine something like a real life car but in a video game.

Imagine them being entirely optional to drive.

Imagine those devices not influencing other aspects of the gameplay. Wait, they actually don’t. While “running fast with the weapon lowered” does.
Before you counter with “But spartans are super soldiers that should be able to run fast” I’m going to ask if those super soldiers shouldn’t be able to "R U N F A S T" and be able to shoot while doing so.

Well yes and no because games have a habit of encouraging players to move faster or be killed by game elements like story or environmental destruction. Never understand why people like to dismiss opinions with “it’s optional” for stating valid points when things like this being optional doesn’t change the fact if someone didn’t use it then they’d be at a disadvantage in both campaign/pvp/pve modes.

You’re right, they totally should be able to, and they have shown to be doing so in other media. But in terms of gameplay, that would make sprinting a bit too overpowered and give cause for haters of the mechanic to hate it even more which is why there is a tradeoff. That is why we have options. If you want to get in a Warthog or some other vehicle, that’s fine; if you want to madly dash across the battlefield, that is also fine. Hell, if you want to flop like a fish across the battlefield, I won’t judge. The point is we are given options to choose how we, as individuals, want to play.

Don’t get me wrong, I see where you’re coming from and you have valid points. But it isn’t optional if other aspects of the gameplay are build around one specific mechanic like sprint. And sprint does influence a lot.

  • Most weapons in H4 and H5 shoot like some sort of laser beam (weapon velocity)
  • Maps are designed to accommodate sprint (compare H3’s Pit and H4’s Pitfall or H2’s Midship and H5’s Thruth
  • Vehicles become useless (remember when H5 launched without BTB and to this day has no dev made BTB maps just think about it lol)

Such a breathe of fresh air,
I could not have said it better myself.
Infinite looks like a brand new start for Halo and I’m super excited. Everything in that blog update has me stoked. I cant wait to see more.

I hate seeing so much negativity around the game on Waypoint. Theres a huge difference between constructive feedback and just flaming because it’s not what a single individual wanted.

Oh, no, I totally agree. There is a clear difference between building a game around the mechanic and adding the mechanic into the game, which is why Sprint in Halo: Reach works better than those that came after like, say, Halo 5: Guardians where you have to sprint to build up momentum to smash into obstacles to continue with the mission.

Not with that story its not.

I thought the gameplay looked very fun. As far as the banished, I’m gonna wait to see what the story is. Maybe the banished merged with a rogue Covenant group do there’s a mix? Who knows. Also, this is a different banished army than we fought in HW2 to my knowledge.

omg please, stop with this excuse. If a gameplay has sprint, the map will be built for using it and it will force u to sprint as well. (look at the difference between thuth and old covenant maps)

oh wow, so u wanted sprint in infinite so u can sprint freely all around the map. C00L.

I really don’t need Halo 2 + thrusters.

it is, you proved nothing. I’m open to different opinion, but u have to convince me
