Alright for halo 5 how would you like it if you could design your own armor. You could do the helmet, chest, legs, shoulders and forarms.
There could be a fairly in depth editor allowing you to ajust the contours and bulk and shape and everything else about each piece, and you could save and upload to your file share and others can use the pieces you designed if they like.
You would still have all the preset pieces like MARK 5 and EVA and whatnot, but can now design and name your own armor set.
It would be nice if 343i would add some more armor appearance options. However, I don’t think they are going to go as far as letting a player design their own armor.
Yes I agree it should be kept simple, how about this; an editor that lets you take existing armor pieces and tweak them a bit. Not a full blown design your own armor editor but just something allowing you to add a bit of your own flavor to preset armor pieces.
Remember in Reach how each helmet had a couple different attachments that you could pick between? Think of an expanded version of that with a few dozen different gadgets that you can attach to your helmet and different ones for chest armor and legs, something along those lines.
If I remember correctly, they were planning this for Halo 3, judging by the Art of Halo 3 book. It’s a real shame that it never got implemented, since it really would be a highly fascinating system. I would love to have armour that is truly unique, having bits and pieces of my favourites.
Of course, we all know that there are some people out there that will abuse the system and find a way to make some… Less-than-appropriate armours…
> I would love this, making my armor unique to me would be great. With this feature no armor would look the same.

> But I’d only like this as long as it dosent effect gameplay what so ever.
Oh no no you see different shapes that you make your armor will have different effects on how fast you can move vs how much protection you have and different helmet attachments can give you different abilities like…

> Just kidding.
What you just listed could work in Spartan Ops or Firefight, maybe.
The great tragedy of Halo’s armor customization is that over half of it is nullified in team games, which make up the vast majority of gametypes played. Armor customization is cool and all, but more than additional or better options, I’d like for more of my Spartan’s appearance to appear in team games.
In team games in Halo 2, your primary color became your secondary color. For example, if your chosen primary/secondary colors were red/yellow and you were on the blue team, your colors would be blue/red. I’d like more stuff like that.
This was probably removed in Halo 3 because combinations like blue/red are very contrasting (and arguably ugly). So I think it would be cool to be able to set a different color scheme for each team.
> So I think it would be cool to be able to set a different color scheme for each team.
So you select the color schemes, and then everyone else’s armor sets will then conform to those choices? Meanwhile their own individual choices are what they see?
> Designing a skin could be possible I guess. That would be neat.
Excellent idea. Yes you could pick a pattern, such as diamonds, checkered, hearts, whatever, then a primary and secondary color, and prehaps a shade as well.
The other day I saw a suppressor skin that I swear for the life of me I have never seen before, it was so weird. Lambossity can confirm that for me we were playing together and both saw it.
All for customization. I’d like to have some asymmetrical armor. Ex: Have the same shoulder armor on both sides…except one’s bigger than the other. Or have different leg armor…such as different shins, thighs, and maybe even the foot. Maybe even get to change the visor size…as given by the GUNGNIR helm…visible visor size doesn’t seem to matter…as you get the same HUD visual with every other helm. It would be cool to see how creative people can get with more armor, paint, and pattern customizations.
I am in full support for an improved and increased armor customization.
Though an actual editor will very likely be too much to ask for.
However, Halo 4 already offered a significantly expanded customization though what mostly bothered me (disregarding the individual look of the sets) was that even though we have this large amount of pieces they look way too similar to each other, with exception of the helmets.
So I would wish that each set and hence each piece of a set looks actually unique and individual.
Upon that I like the idea of “attachments/gear” as a new and separate option of the armory.
So instead like it has been in Reach that the attachments are linked to certain pieces you could add them to every (fitting) piece you personally prefer.
That could vary from extra armor plating, grenade belts, pouches, etc. as options for chest pieces, to different kinds of combat knifes that could be attached to either lower leg, shoulder or chest, to robotic proteases, etc etc.
Such an additional and separate options for armor skins would be nice as well as would be an option to give your armor an “used-look” with dirt, scratches, plasma burns, etc.
However, as much as I enjoy customizing my Spartans armor you hardly get to see it in its “glory”.
Like Vektor0 mentioned in the multiplayer the majority of your armor gets instantly nullified. To one part by the team colors and to the other part because no one pays really or full attention to someone’s armor in the heat of the battle anyway.
That’s why I would hope when improving and expanding the armory that our characters get some screen time again, appear in cutscenes like in Reach’s Campaign.
A Co-Op mode would suit that just well in my opinion.

I love the idea, but since Halo is exclusive they probably won’t see the point in putting it in.
I would love seeing what people could come up with, but it seems like something I that would require a large amount of time regardless of simplicity.

I would like both asymmetrical and symmetrical for some armors though. As for the Visor I think it would be neat if each visor had different HUD, but that probably is too much haha
