Describing Locke

Guys, try to describe Spartan Locke’s personality, not his job or that hes a Spartan or his military career.
He has basically no personality.

He seems to be a calm and analytical character.

He puts the mission first ahead of all other considerations. ie Leaving Arbiter in peril. But also is prepared to make risks and sacrifices.

Hes prepared to suck up and deal with allies he doesn’t like or respect to get the mission done. For example Sloan and the Arbiter.

He seems to resent the idea of us being at peace with the Elites and doesn’t like them “things changed”

He deeply respects the Chief.

So yeah, hes a pretty bland character. Theres no shade of grey. Theres no inner conflict and certainly none with Chief. Theres nothing to contrast him to Chief aside from a more beligerant view of AI.

My rock has more emotion.

“You’re not the only one here because of him

Err, did I miss something?

So you would say he’s Locke’d up?

So just because he isn’t a jokester or a talkative guy he doesn’t have any character? You don’t seem pay attention to what’s happening on your screen that much.

He’s the guy on osiris that isn’t buck right yeah i remember him he is uhhhh… well he’s not buck

Great leader!
He returned S-117 to the UNSC

He reminds me of Noble 6, one of those pocket knifes used for things like assassinations, so hes got close to that personality, cold in the way where he doesn’t care who he has to kill, gets his job done when he is told to do so and doesn’t argue with it or seem to even doubt it, however at the same time hes like Carter, he follows orders but he also cares about his team and how they work, overall he’s more talkative than Noble 6, like when he to Buck about catching Chief, making the joke about saving Buck twice, and strategizing with Arbiter

He does look like he could be future “the rock”

I feel like since a couple reviewers said that the story was crap, so then no one paid attention to the story as they played the game and then complain about it. Like what? That doesn’t make any sense.

Boring, undeveloped aas-like, cares nothing about Chief himself, just the -Yoink- mission

He doesn’t need to be Buck, it would be boring to have two of him on a team.

In Nightfall, Locke had a particularly close relationship with Michael Horrigan, but it was a relationship that wa extremely unhealthy. Horrigan was an incredibly controlling individual and he tried on multiple occasions to exercise that over Locke through emotional manipulation. (Really, I recommend going back and rewatching Nightfall with your mind squarely focused on the character dynamics rather than the plot – there’s a lot of really well written material there.)

Locke quite openly says that he loves his team. He is fiercely loyal to the people he leads, so what comes of that is a need for open friendship and support. He lost that in Nightfall, what with his team turning against him and dying. Now we see him with Osiris, we see that Locke tries to come across as a lot more detached than he has previously been. He’s taken a step back here, he still obviously cares about his team but you can see that he is actively being somebody who is more to-the-point.

But there are moments (which increase in frequency) where he drops his mask and is a lot more transparent towards his team. Buck is effectively coming to fill in the kind of place on the team that Horrigan once had, only the relationship between him and Locke is a lot healthier, a lot more positive. (There’s always good value in portraying that in fiction, I believe.)

Again, just to highlight my point, we see the mask that Locke portrays fall away when the rest of the team jumps out of the Pelican to Kamchatka, He stops for a second, and he smiles: he’s back in the fight, and he’s with a team he feels he can count on – this is really all Locke asks for, being a career soldier.

I liked him until the “every target is just another target, Buck,” line. It showed me he’s an ONI drone who can’t think outside the box. To say that the war hero who saved the human race multiple times is “just another target” is absurd. He didn’t even think of the moral ramifications of his assignment.

The chief went UA, which is wrong. But to just throw him in the mix with any other Marine and Spartan who violated the law is silly to me.

Chief has proven himself time and time again. Did he go rogue? Let’s find out. Not show up looking for a fight. Blue team deserves that much. Not sure why the UNSC would so willingly throw aside their most consistent asset like he was nothing. From a military point of view this makes no sense at all.

I think the voice actor change may have influenced the timeline for recording lines, or at the very least impacted the script. They had an epic setup of Chief vs Locke, but when Colter left they may have gotten cold feet.

Calm, scary, black guy?

A picture is worth a thousand words right?

At least Chief had some charisma in the original trilogy, locke is as flat and boring as cardboard.

The way i see osiris its either buck or it isn’t buck

He has three frag grenades and can’t think of a good comeback.
