Descoping + Flinch can work together

A lot of you want the old descope back, and while playing my fair share of the classic Halo games and Halo 4, I basically concluded how these can work together.

Why the system in Halo 4 isn’t a bad one
The new system really isn’t all that bad, and it’s actually pretty balanced. Taking shots causes your reticle to fly off balance (unless you have Rogue) and if you had rogue on big team maps it made the game really frusturating. In opinion, descoping was annoying. We just learned to tolerate it because it has been in Halo since the beginning. If you don’t remember the Halo 3 forums, everyone was asking for descoping to be removed.

How Descoping + Flinch can work together

Firstly, incoming fire from Battle rifles, assault weapons, pistols, etc should keep you scoped in like the new system. After a noticeable amount of fire, such as hitting an enemy point blank with a ton of rounds, should cause you to unscope. This way we can avoid running down hallways like idiots with our scopes zoomed in.

Sniper rifles and explosions cause an automatic descope. If you get hit with a sniper rifle, this should automatically cause you to descope.

Getting hit with a grenade point blank or a rocket launcher missle that almost killed you should also descope you.

Incoming fire from warthog turrets should descope you.

These are just a few ideas, I like the new scope system but I strongly believe it needs a few adjustments.

Descope may be more balanced than Flinch, but its equally annoying in-game. I’d rather have a third alternative.

It’s nice to see that you have thought this out.

But I don’t want flinch in this game at all, there is no skill required to kill. At longer ranges it becomes who can shoot who first rather than who has the best shot. Which is why BTB is so horrible to play, people camp with the DMR or LR because they know if they get the drop on someone, it is usually lights out for the enemy.

Descoping was fine, I understand that some people didn’t like it but flinch is way worse.

descoping was great. flinch is garbage

Flinch is a terrible game mechanic for halo. It works in games like battlefield and COD because the game play is different. Numerous times have I put shots into someone with a sniper and somehow I end up getting blained because the flinch aspect on the sniper is minimal when the player with the sniper is shot with a DMR or BR. When you get shot with a sniper your reticule basically goes to the moon. If flinch was removed I don’t think the DMR issue people have would be a prominent issue like it is now. Another thing is too a lot of map remakes play terrible with flinch in the game. Take the pit for example with BR starts, a person with a sniper becomes a power house on that map because they don’t get knocked out of their scope when getting hit by a BR round.

Descoping should be the default
Flinch should be the result if you are using the ‘stability’ mod

This is actually a really good idea.

OH MY GOSH YOU JUST WON THE INTERNET 343I HIRE THIS MAN.

If you remember some of the older news and rumours about Halo 4, there were talks about a perk that would prevent you from being descoped after getting hit.
343 WANTED descoping in the game but obviously they’re not the ones with the final say. It’s such a shame they are taking hate for everything, even for decisions that are not really their own.

I’m pretty sure that getting rid of de-scoping was 343i’s idea.

Nope it’s one or the other, I disagree. As for me, I want descoping.

I love this idea.

Or long range weapons(dmrs, LRs, etc) could have descope, and weapons with small scopes ( BRs, Carbines, Magnums, etc) could have flinch.

So are you saying MS made them do it? Not doubting you, but I’ve always wondered if that was the reason a lot of things turned out the way they did.

That’s what I thought they meant when they announced the Stability perk, I think even Oconnor said that in an interview or demonstration.
