Descope quality of life

It’s extremely jarring when you’re holding down zoom, get shot and descope, only to suddenly rescope after a fixed delay since you’re holding the zoom button. I would appreciate a toggle that prevents rescoping when shot out of scope until the button is released and pressed again, and no, before you say it, I don’t want to just use toggle zoom, I prefer descoping when I release the button.

Heya!

I think you bring up a great point as I have had some frustrations with this feature. Sometimes you aren’t quick enough to release the aim button to where it brings you back in as you attempt to retreat or press the attack. It also led me to consider switching to toggle but I don’t think I would enjoy that much more than the current.

Cheers!

This is a controversial thing to bring up and I honestly think the entire conversation is worth discussing including not being descoped. I don’t mind the way it is however the new generation probably dislikes it. However the idea you had I would actually dislike more. Why? It would just feel weird and might mess up responsiveness. It’s a good idea though.

You know, this makes me think about Equipment. What if there was Equipment that removed descoping and slightly reduced vertical recoil? I get the feeling it would be OP in PvP. The way to fight back against snipers and longer range weapons is to keep forcing them to descope.

I mostly just dislike scoping back in without any change in input on my part. It messes with my aim, especially when I’m repeatedly getting descoped, because I essentially have to react to getting descoped and release the zoom button before I scope back in so I can aim properly without the constant zooming in and out messing me up.

I think with the optimal TTK for precision weapons it serves as balancing IMO

It would be powerful for sure. I see something like that as a highest tier piece of equipment, like overshield or camo, especially if there is no flinch, but it would need to do more than just reduce vertical recoil so that it’s still useful with weapons that can’t scope in. Maybe make it a damage boost that also removes descoping and call it a day.

Flinch is the other viable option destiny does this instead of descope but it also gas it’s share of issues

If that’s true, then I should really just bite the bullet and switch to toggle zoom since it does eliminate the issue entirely.

I think the descope is just one of the things that make Halo unique in it’s own right. I fully understand why people don’t like and want it to change though.

You were holding it? That’s insane. Toggle is absolutely the way to go.

No argument from me there .I’m just showing there isn’t an easy solution . D3scope/flinch a penalty must/needs to exist if you being shot in scope
