hello, ive gotten tired of being a legend and not ranking up very fast so ive been wondering if there is an easy way to derank myself to recruit. and play default like in the olden days

Unless you make another account, no.
It is impossible to derank in Reach unless you do something to get your rank reset, but it won’t do anything for you because of the way MM is set up. My very first online match was against an Inheritor so it wouldn’t do anything even if you did manage it.

Ha, there was a thread on bnet where kids would have a fit of conscience and officially admit to boosting and ask to be reset to atone for their sins. Ferrex granted this a couple of times and foregoed the ban in light of the guilty plea. It was all quite humbling actually.
Bungie used to reset habitual firefight AFKers and/or boosters, but I haven’t heard if 343 is doing anything to them.
