Hunters + shrouds are cost effective, as you just found out playing vs me 
Wraiths/shroud also beat it very well, but that’s not as cost effective.
If I am seeing correct, I think shrouds block the scorpion cannon shots. Which is very nice as they shoot slow.
A scarab on the other hand is not a very good choice vs scorpions. They have too much hp for it to deal with. It can’t just kill them all by walking over them like it can do to warthogs/cyclops.
