So i have played Halo 5 for 60+ hours and been having a blast since release and the most annoying thing about the game is the Tryhards in Arena, i just wanna play and fun, what’s the fun in matching up with a gang of Tryhards? they need to add a social playlist for casual players, or am i the only one who thinks this?
Number 1 reason I stay away from arena. I’m just a filthy casual.
Been saying add a Social List since day one. Won’t happen. Even BTB is going to be ranked-arena.
How is “try hard” a stupid phrase?
Because as it stands Arena games can go one of two ways:
-
You’re on a rag tag team with decent players on your team, and about the same for your opponents, who have all had some experience with the game and maps and you do okay, but maybe your KDR isn’t that great or it was good but you were doing an objective game type and could never keep it locked down. Normally these games end in very close calls and you end up leaving it with either a pucker factor of 10 or a rage factor of 100. But regardless you think it’ll be okay next game so you stay in the lobby. Bringing us to…the other way Arena games can go
-
Same instances as before but instead your opponents are all in party chat, run map drills every day and have collectively spent more on their SCUF controllers and headsets than some used Civics on Craigslist. Chances are they also have spent a minimum or $150 on their router with fiber optic cable running every which way through their home. These guys probably still have some residual Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from playing claw before all these fancy controller mod companies came into the spotlight and not a single one of them has a KDR lower than 2.0. Needless to say you get your rear handed to you on a silver platter because no one on your team will listen to even the slightest of call outs or will heed your warnings of, “HEY THERE’S A GUY WHO’S ABOUT TO GET AN ELIMINATION ON US TURN AROUND” as you sit and wait the 8 full seconds of the spawn timer out.
I think it’s a VERY broken system because not all of us want to play Warzone if we’re looking for casual fun in Halo. Warzone has its own faults too that I won’t elaborate on but a social playlist would do WONDERS for the game because if I wanna play a round or two of Grifball, I can without worrying about keeping my CSR in a good spot. Social slayer is also REALLY good practice for newer or returning players to get a feel for the maps without feeling like they’re hindering the team’s ranking because they aren’t as familiar as the rest of them. If Social comes back so will the majority of old school Halo 3 players and maybe we’ll have a multiplayer community just as good as the one back then.
What have i started? ._.

you love it you try hard forum muncher
I read this as “I want easy wins to have fun, not other people have fun by crushing me”. And I feel that. Dominating social games feels good.
I miss casual matches where people weren’t trying so hard to win the game, where you could just ride around the map in a warthog with your teammates for fun. ._.

XD
Tryhards = someone who beats you because they are better than you.
There’s a very simple solution to this. All you have to do is play casually. Nobody’s forcing you to care about your rank. Even if there was a social playlist one team still has to play better than the other, someone has to win. Do you want the other team to just shoot at you a little bit? I just don’t understand this whole dilemma.
btb is coming I hope that’s some fresh air into the arena

play warzone
I also wish that there would be an option of not having a skill rank all of the time.
I dont care about my skill rank at all but it still seems to make loosing more annoying.

Sadly this is true in most cases at least from my experience.
I don’t recall people trying any less hard in Halo 3 social play lists.

I agree with this and will add one thing. For the people who do say you play for fun. I would assume a majority don’t go “Man that was fun I died so much and lost the last five games” Lets be real here No one says they have fun when they lose or don’t play well.
I admit I am a competitive player and I will also admit that not everyone is playing at the same level of competition but if you are playing multiplayer its not really casual its still “competitive.”
