I do agree because some arena games, lets use SWAT for example. One team can be complete pro, 0 deaths and 45 kills, the other team that is losing should have the ability to forfeit because no matter what they will lose anyway. i also agree that if your entire team leaves or is afk you should have the ability to surrender
I hear you saying; I’ve been in the same situation where it’s 4-1, my only question be with there be a way to keep people from abusing this option ? I do believe you have about point here , and would be interested to see how this is going to be handled if at all. The only example I can think of that is the exception to what you’re saying is enabled for I was with the big team and there was something , and mass disconnect and I was left alone . My team had 180 and I simply crotch and moved around the battlefield taking the occasional kill , maybe four in total . I let the time run out . Somehow I survived and was able to win. However, this is not the case in most mass quitting game plays . So I was wondering with a auto function that essentially ends the game , which is to say something that’s not controlled by the players be better off because it could possibly not be abused ?
Yes to this.
@mongoose, I’m trying to understand your post but I’m kinda confused. Im failing to see how manual control of surrender by the player poses an issue. The surrender option would always result in an automatic Loss. The only reason for it would be k/d preservation.
I agree that a surrender option should be available to players, but I do believe there needs to be clearly defined criteria that must be met before a surrender can take place just like in every other game out there. In my opinion this game has had far more disconnects and quitters than any Halo game I have previously played. It is quite concerning. I won’t lie and say that I haven’t quit matches either out of frustration for other players quitting. I just want an option to end a bad game so I can get into a better one faster.
@axios I agree that this is the most frequent quitting I’ve seen in any of the halo games. Not positive why, but my guess is because the skill gap in H5 is probably the most noticeable yet. I’m hearing kids rage on the mic consistently because “the game sucks”. Bad kids just hate getting rolled.
At system blower, I was thinking what if the game simply was not going the way a team wanted and they all mass to save their killed death ratio. All I was doing was playing devils advocate and wondering if hypothetically this could occur . That’s all .
How about instead of a surrender option, if one guy on your team leaves, the rest of you can without penalty?
Edit: Other than losing the match obviously.
I support this
Spartans don’t surrender.
I like it

> I’m sure this sounds ridiculous off the top for some people, but hear me out. I’m noticing a TON of quitting going on in matchmaking. I know players are eventually penalized for doing this, but for those of us that persevere through a 2v4 or 1v4 thrashing, nobody wins. The smaller team gets their k/d ratio destroyed, and it essentially wastes times for the larger team who is no longer playing an authentic and fair game as intended in the first place. I’m sick of stubbornly finishing out a game unable to kill anybody because a 4v1 team shot is literally impossible to overcome in halo against even mildly competent players. I’m stuck in the game if I don’t want the eventual ban hammer, but my k/d matters to me and it’s suffering unbelievably.

> While I’m not a great player, I would consider myself above average and have been playing Halo since Combat Evolved. I’ve always been around a 1.3-1.6 k/d player, and in h5 I’m sitting close to dead even. Very frustrating. I’m 24 years old, and the friends I play with are close to my age. We don’t have the time anymore to play Xbox all day and usually, I have to go into matchmaking without a fireteam due to schedules just not lining up. My k/d in slayer should be at least a 1.3, but it’s like 0.9 right now because I never quit out, but have teammates quitting consistently.
Same. Used to be a 1.6 K/D Slayer guy, now I’m dead even too. I’m just not good at Halo 5 compared to previous titles… that said. I registered my first two DNF’s yesterday out of frustration. One was Warzone due to poor team cohesion, and the other was SWAT when I went 1-10 in SWAT pistols (which is frustrating as hell… I hate pistol SWAT) where I ended up hiding because the other team was just decimating us. I think I was just having a bad night overall… I support the “surrender” option, but like you said, if it was from the get-go due to teammates quitting vs. incentive to not getting penalized for quitting because you’re getting owned.
How about instead of the forfeit; because Spartans never surrender:
Once a player from any team leaves, the game goes into sudden death. Winner takes all
This offers k/d preservation, spartan honor, guaranteed time saver and a “Breakout” feel for anyone who has been practicing it.
I have a few variants on this idea but would like to see what people think of the base idea before going further.
I would not mind having a surrender option for those matches where either your team is getting rolled or you’re just lapping the enemy team. I’m sure it’s not perfect but would you want a majority rules (if 3 vote surrender then that team surrenders) or does it have to be unanimous?
