So the deal with this thread is, if you could delete a character from Halo 4 and put in a character you like from the Halo universe, who would it be and why. Also put your thoughts on how you think they would impact the story in Halo 5.
Deceased and MIA characters are free game.
The person i would exchange out would be Captain Del Rio with,
I think Cole would of handled the situation the Infinity was in alot better than Del Rio would ever and he probably would of stopped Didact from taking out new Phoenix. I can’t measure Lasky’s commanding skills but i believe Cole would do been able to take out Jul. He just has alot more experience with fighting Covenant Fleets and would of had little issue dealing with Juls ragtag band of soldiers.
I believe his impact on Halo 5 might end up leading to him supporting Oni with their ways to try to keep the war with the Elite raging while they try to invent the Genophage. Huge tension for him at the treaty with the brutes. Not just with them but Thel as well.
I would replace Dr. Henry Glassman with Professor Evan Phillips from the Kilo-5 series. Glassman was just too much of a dork for me to take seriously and he seems like a really -Yoink- scientist to boot. Phillips may not be a scientist, but I think the dynamic between him, the crew of Infinity and Jul 'Mdama would’ve been better.
Delete: Spartan Sarah Palmer (Yes this has been done to death)
Insert: Master Sergeant Marcus P. Stacker
While I have no qualms about Palmer’s ability to motivate the Spartans under her command, so far she has failed to allow a filter between her personal emotions and military operations. Many times throughout her career as a Spartan, we see Palmer get driven by her sudden emotional outbursts that have even allowed the enemy to succeed.
On the other hand, Pete Stacker is just as effective at inspiring those under his command, but has yet to demonstrate the nearly impulsive emotional responses that Palmer has. Better yet, we know for a fact that Stacker is still around and may even be a Spartan IV.

^This.
Though, personally, I would have rather seen a Spartan II head the Spartan IV program instead of Palmer.

If you think that Bungie is innocent of creating bland characters that lack development and are either tropes or stereotypes, you may find yourself needing correction.
Most, if not all of Noble Team completely fill up the stereotypes. Whether it’s the ‘gentle giant’ trope that’s been used to death, or the racial profilelization that comes from Emile, Noble Team lacks creativity in character. Worse, we see the descriptions of each member be completely contradicted by their action in game. Kat is described as a genius who is intellectually superior to most Spartans, but yet somehow thought it was a good idea to send thousands of Army Troopers to their deaths through a giant Warthog rush.
The Prophet of Truth, especially in Halo 3, displays the tendencies of the typical “mustache-twirling villain” that yells at his henchmen while foaming out of the mouth. While the Didact’s motives weren’t properly conveyed in Halo 4’s Campaign, Truth’s lack of depth was astonishingly more apparent.
In terms of character development, Bungie was just as bad, if not worse, than 343i has been so far.

Remove Sarah Palmer and then insert the legendary Sergeant Johnson!!! Imagine the missions that could have came from the Master Chief and Johnson’s Spartan IV’s kicking -Yoink- with Johnson cordinating!

Though I would disagree on the ultimate assertion of Bungie lacking character development, I do especially agree with your points on Halo: Reach. It was honestly, despite what others may think, my least-favorite Halo campaign due to the lack of proper character development.
I’m not all to crazy about the Didact, Palmer, or Del Rio, but 343i definitely succeeded in making the fans fall in love with Lasky.
Can I replace a team with another team? Yes? Ok, then Fireteam Majestic with Buck’s ODST squad. If only one person, then Palmer with anyone. Get her out of there. What a boring and rather pointless character. When did Palmer ever help other than give orders or scold marines (especially the one that let Parg Vol slip away) and scien- oh excuse me- “eggheads.” I really hope she ends up composed or something. Boss battle, anyone?
Every Spartan IV team should be transformed into copies of Noble Team. Noble Team was the bomb. I love Noble Team. Noble Team is also fun to say. Noble Team. LOL. Reach is the Best. Halo 5 should star Noble Six. The Arbiter would have never killed Noble Six. Noble Six is alive. My body knows he’s alive. He is too good to die. Take away Master Chief and put in Noble Six. Noble Six has such a more history than Master Chief. Besides, I bet Noble Six could beat Master Chief at Beer Pong any day. Noble Six has history. Halsey is his mom. Read the Fall Of Reach. Halsey refers to Noble Six as her son. I promise i’m not making this up. Carter is cool too. Infact, Noble Six should meet up with Carter and Cat. They are the best of buds and should be taken seriously because Noble Six is a hyper-lethal vector and not even the Chief can compete with that.

Obviously I am joking. Palmer should be replaced with someone who isn’t Sarah Palmer. Like Buck or Dare. Or oh I don’t know, The Arbiter. Or one of Blue Team’s member. Just anyone who has enough brain cells that does’t have to use “Egg Head”
I know palmer has been said many a times but I’d replace her with the guy in halo 2 who says “Marine, Did I give you permission to -Yoink-?” in the outpost mission for obvious reasons.
