Define it. Everyone seems to have their own perspective on it. What’s yours? And what makes you more superior then them?
I see allot of post complaining about certain ‘Noob’ things. Then you read the post and responses, It’s just allot of people who expect to be the best and if someone kills them; ‘Oh they’re using xxxx gun, noob’

Someone who fails to use their motion Tracker, has terrible aim and generally sucks. I love seeing people rage at me and call me a noob, challenge me to 1v1’s and lose >:D
To me a “noob” is a player with no understanding of core gameplay mechanics or strategy. Usually “noobs” will eventually gain an understanding of map layouts, strategies and basic weapon behavior and will be then known as “teammates.” Sometimes people just never stop being noobs. For example, I had a roommate who never knew how to win solitaire. He played it his entire life and enjoyed doing so without ever knowing how to win (we changed his life when we told him how). To this day he is my best example of a “noob.”
As per urban dictionary.
- Halo Noob
A person who is horrible at halo, especially while play on xbox live. These people usually get pwned by almost every player they are faced against. You are often humiliated, and cussed at by the more experienced players. Not to worry, many many people are Halo Noobs which ultimately means you have a life.
- Halo noob
One who thinks they are 1337 because the play Halo. These people are wrong simply because Halo is one of the easiest games ever made and playing it does not make u a 1337 haxxor.
Now onto my personal definition.
A player who has not played halo before or is still very new to the game play and mechanics of halo.
Someone who has a loadout consisting of:
1: DMR
2: Boltshot
3: Active Camo
4: Dexterity
And plays accordingly, meaning they crouch while using camo and kill you from across the map on Exile because they suck, they know they suck and they know the only way they’ll get kills is by camo camping with the DMR because they know that if they were to get within 20ft of a decent player they don’t have the aiming skills, strafing skills and movement skills to win a 1v1 skirmish with someone, so they rely on never having to get into a 1v1 situation, they’re much happier hiding and using the DMR aka the noob gun. Oh, and if they ever did find themselves in that 1v1 scenario, there’s a good chance its because they are charging their Boltshot while using camo and they are waiting to catch you offguard because you’re thinking to yourself, “no one’s that big of a noob, I don’t think I need to check my radar every .5 second to make sure someone’s camping”. And then boom! They were and you don’t have the words to describe the noobness that just took place, so you give up on the game and go play something else.
Moral of the story, don’t be “that guy” that does everything described above, you’re killing Halo.
Your mom.
I think this is like asking someone to define “hipster”. It does have a meaning, but most people don’t use it for its true meaning, they do so just to be hipsters themselves (recursion) or just to spite the person they’re calling (because the word has a bad connotation).
It’s just a senseless, easy and unoffensive insult.

I find this highly entertaining. So using what is given to you to its fullest capabilities = being a noob. Camping has been part of FPS games since doom, and it will always be.

Actually… you just described a “pro” player. Players that consider themselves “pro” use the cheapest (read: best) weapons/equipment from the most opportune positions in order to gain the best k/d. “Pro” players can never become “teammates” as they put their personal pride and stats before the team. They are only useful in slayer gametypes and are also incapable of enjoying games.
I count noob as “newb”, short for “newbie”.
Like it says on the tin, people new and untested to Halo. Not unlike a learner driver on the road.

I agree with you on this one, The only way that loadout is a noob loadout is if they fail at using it.
If being an ‘MLG’ means anything. Allot of the youtube videos they have put up of halo is that loadout and they’re ‘Pro’ at halo, a very easy game, and now even easier in halo 4.
The loadout is annoying, but it’s a smart combination. Unlike, AR and the mod so you have 2 primary loadout weapons and putting a good old promethea ar.
- active camo
- vehicles
> 1. active camo
> 2. vehicles
How is using a vehicle a noob thing? Vehicles is a halo thing in general.
Define Halo noob:
Someone who doesnt know what a noob is.
A noob is a word that vaguely categorizes inexperienced players. Anyone with really bad aim, no map awareness, and the inability to learn from their mistakes.
> > 1. active camo
> > 2. vehicles
>
> How is using a vehicle a noob thing? Vehicles is a halo thing in general.
Because you just sit in them and hold the trigger. There is no skill to using them. Like using active camo/boltshot - no skill.
Just have to add, Halo is not a hardcore game, people can have the ‘hardcore’ mentality whilst playing, that doesn’t make it a hardcore game. It is a casual game. Well known fact. People get to obsessed and start slandering casual players ruining a game when they’re the ones who bought the game. It’s just so weird seeing So much ‘Noob’ hate when someone out kills you or whatever the excuse is (lag lol). It’s annoying people acting like the current batch of fps games, especially console fps games being life. They’re dumbed down for casual play. This isn’t starcraft or something where people dedicate years of their life. Those koreans are crazy.
Others usually call a new player, or terrible player, a noob
My definition: Noob, a fool that would betray his own teammate for a better gun, who would destroy your vehicle.
Synonyms: -Yoink–hole, Jack–Yoink-, mother****er etc…

Isn’t an fps just ‘Hold the trigger’ how else so you kill someone with a gun?
Vehicles are very easy to destroy, you have grenades, use them. Not being able to take out a vehicle is perrrrtttyy nooby.
No. The DMR, Boltshot, and in BTB Plasma Pistol are the ONLY guns ruining this game right now.
There is NO REASON to complain about anything else, because everything else works perfectly fine as it should.

Have you ever tried driving a vehicle without dying in 30 seconds in this game? When you get in a vehicle, you become one of the most prominent targets on the map. Combine that with the fact that anyone can spawn with a plasma pistol and stickies and then add on the fact that anyone can have a rocket launcher/spartan laser/fuel rod cannon/sniper rifle/sticky detonator/rail gun from random ordinance and you realize that it takes more skill to get kills with a vehicle in this game than it does outside of one (unless you’re in the gauss hog on exile that is).
But I’m not bitter or anything…
