So I just reading a post about what Halo 5 needs and I came across this interesting quote:
> I was just watching beta game play of Halo 5 (which inspired this post) and I can tell from just watching it that this game is not going to garner as much popularity as planned. If you ask any TRUE halo fan what the best game of the series is, most will either say H1 or H2.
So what defines a “TRUE” Halo fan? If someone enjoys a series and buys the games doesn’t that qualify them as a “TRUE” fan? Seems like segregation to me… almost a touch of “I like Halo more therefore I am better than you”.

Indeed, it seems like people who refer to themselves as “TRUE” Halo fans, essentially means that they think they have a better opinion than everyone else?
Apparently, someone who was lucky enough to be between 14-30 year old when Halo CE came out to play it from the beginning. I, for one, started playing Halo with 3 in 2007 when I was 11.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that exist that simply shouldn’t.

By extension of that, people like the Halo series for different reasons. I enjoy campaign and the story more than MM. Others are the opposite and like MM more than the story.
It’s preference, but we all enjoy Halo, therefore that makes us Halo fans.
There’s no such thing as “true fans” but I hope the halo fanbase don’t go like the Star Wars one, with the people not knowing anything beside the movies and Yoinking! on the nerds who buys comics and books and vis/versa, because a fan war can only be beneficial to the licence’s holder who’s given a chance to redefine it’s product with the support of one or the other fanbase and make more money instead of trying to make everyone happy…
A Halo fan is anybody that buys anything that is even remotely related to Halo and praises it to no end. Period. That includes shirts, action figures, posters, and most importantly, the fabled strands of Frankie’s hair.
I like Halo, therefore I am a Halo fan. Simple as. No one can tell you whether you like something or not. They can try to persuade you, but it’s your call. Don’t let anyone get you down with elitist yoink like that.

People seem to throw that around when they don’t get there way or want people to agree with them… The only thing a true Halo fan is someone that is a fan of Halo. Fans don’t need to know what to think, because they can think for themselves
If a Halo fan is a Halo fan than why do all the Halo 2 Veterans gotta be -Yoinks!- to people that started with reach or 4, saying there not real halo fans?

I started with Halo CE but I agree with you on the fact that a lot of the “old timers” think they are superior in some way
Oh those sad MLG tryhards that think their opinion is the best. Funny but pathetic. What a waste of a life, someone playing video game to make money. I’ll put it simply, to those losers
More skill=Better halo fan
