Defending the Garage: Phaetons

Defending the garage in Warzone Firefight is somewhat diffcult. That’s why I always try to EMP and skyjack a Phaeton. But almost every single time, my teammates don’t seem to realize this and end up destroying the Phaetons. Does anyone else try this as well, only to have your attempts stopped by your own team?

I did the same. Its not you… Teammates

I actually think it’s ultimately harmful to be in a Phaeton in this mission, but it seems to be an unpopular opinion.

Round 3: Defend the garage- is usually where my team goes down.

I like to use a Phaeton to try to mow down enemies before they get into the base. It’s really helpful for the later waves as well.

I really like to steal a phaeton in that round, but there is a glitch or kind of, where my teammates can EMP my phaeton and is so annoying . Plz 343i fix that D:

Just kinda instinctual to do so, plus commendation progress.

That’s fair. And that helps teammates get to the Garage, but it doesn’t help the fact that enemies spawn directly in the garage. So the garage will still be filled with enemies that have incans, scattershots, suppressors, light rifles, and endless splinter grenades. I frequently find myself desperately trying to make a hole to squeeze in and stop the cap, but all 6 entry ways are death traps. I standby that the Phaeton doesn’t help.

Not trying to start something btw, just a difference in opinion

This is exactly what I do. I love it.

the phaeton is useful for killing other Phaetons and for firing down into the Garage through the sky light.

Yeah it’s tough to jack the phaetons and I hate when the teammates destroy them… but they may need the phaeton destroyer commendation… I have only done it once. I usually just spawn a wraith… that does the trick.

If you can manage your phaeton until Wave 5, it is very useful. When the mythic boss spawns, so does a ton of minions. The phaeton’s missles helps clear the area a lot. Then you can peck away at the bosses safe and sound from the air.

Yeah, it doesn’t help much against the ones that spawn directly in there. The only way to help is to get almost at ground level (bad idea) or shoot through the openings, which is kind of hard. Part of me using it is just because I really like flying the Phaeton.

You can also fly low and shoot in the Windows helping clear both the top and bottom of the garage.

That’s what one of my Spartan Comoany mates said. I was making the same logical case I made here and his response was “I like Phaetons.” I felt terrible for forgetting that video games are meant to be fun… I focus too much on winning sometimes.

Thanks for sharing your opinion here, it’s been fun going back and forth

Well I just watched a teamate do it and learned about it didn’t think you could hijack them speaking from not being able to do it to other AI vehicles so I’ll definitely do it in the future… However I need 5 more phaeton kills for level 5 of the phaeton destroyer commendation so maybe after that’s done

I try to find a Phaeton that’s away from the bulk of my team, and then I EMP that one. Of course, this doesn’t always turn out perfect 100% of the time.

I always try to get one far away, but the Phaeton is almost always above the garage and I can’t get to it. Then, when I do get a Phaeton away, my teammates have a Scorpion and shoot the damn thing out of the sky.

The phaetons are irrelevant to the objective though. Respawning players can make a b-line to the garage and, for the most part, run right past their LoS. The phaetons cannot stop this. Enemies in the base can, especially soldiers with their damn splinter grenade spam. You can control some of the outside spawns and limit their entry into the garage with a phaeton, but you can’t control them all. It also means there is one less player inside defending the cap.

Let me put it this way. The most effective way to handle that round is for the entire team to defend while being physically inside the garage. You can still win if this isn’t the approach, but you’re not doing yourself any favors.

Had guy on our team jack a Phaeton, and he used its “rockets” through the windows, was very effective. Definitely helped us make it through that level.
