Is this what AAA gaming gas become defending the in game casino and paying for content you already payed for 343 the req system was a massive mistake and a slap in the face to long time fans. And the fact people defend this new and awful req system is beyond belief. These kind of things are whats killing gaming. How and why anyone can defend this is beyond me if halo 6 has these req its a definite no buy for me. And all you people defending the micro trans don’t be mad when the first map pack comes out at 15 dollars after they said that req packs would pay for them they’re already selling you content that you already bought so they know you’ll pay for new stuff
Edit
Lemme clarify a little more why I hate these reqs. No I don’t think it effects balance and yes I get that most of these things are cosmetic. So I’ll go more in depth. Halo3 had the vidmaster achievements completing those got you the recon armor as well as pushing some dlc and buying odst it was in a sense a micro trans however it was fun. One of my favorite memories was not getting recon because I had a date the night we were getting the last vidmaster where you play the last level. The next day my disc broke and couldn’t get it. Now I know I didn’t get the armor but just doing the achievements with buds had us playing halo3 as it was goin out the door and was a ton of fun. Then reach came out and I grinded forever just to get that black visor and was super stoked watching reaches final cutscene with my badass spartan blacked out with the cool commander helmet in a last stand. It gave me reason to replay campaign. I loved when i would rek some dude with the lightning effect because he thought he was cool for grinding the game out.
All of that is now gone with this req system the armor is now random and dosent convey aby story about how someone got. My spartan rank is pointless because when it goes up I am no closer to unlocking cool new armor stuff its just a number. I’ll agree reach may have been to grindy but they could have lessened the grind while also putting armor that is only attainable through achievments. That is why I hate this req system
The “first map pack” will be free for all people because everyone will be getting around 15 maps for free. If you are gonna wine about micro-transactions have a look at the New Tomb Raider and go to their forums if they have any. Halo 5 isn’t pay-to-win either. The most costly micro-transaction is $2.99 from what I’ve seen. That is Nothing comparative to battlefield, smite or the upcoming new tomb raider.

Pick.
A: Pay £20+ (Which is more in $, like 30 something) for map packs
B: Let people pay £2.50 for an hour and a halfs game time. Which you can access just by playing.
Hahahaha you all really think the map packs will be free 343 has proven you people will pay for stuff you already payed so why would they not charge you for the first map pack how can you defend this it blows my mind these micro trans aren’t set up to be a 1 time 3 dollar spend its the same reason penny slots cost more than dollar slots if you wanna win anything

Well you say 2.50 but what’s the first thing that comes up in the req store o look a 25 dollar pack hmmmmm that has NO NEW CONTENT that I have seen in other threads people are buying. I would be slightly OK with these micro trans if they let you pick individual armor pieces but they don’t because people would pay the 3 bucks one time and never use it again thats why they designed it to be random pay 3 bucks o sorry you got two emblems you wanna try again? O sorry you got two armor pieces you already have and don’t like but these ones have red highlights wanna try again. It’s such a scam. And if you truly believe they won’t charge for a map pack then you’re incredibly naive.
Dude, 100% agree.
EVERY game now is trying to pull this -Yoink- off…getting real sick of it.

Yes I know if I ignore the problem and post a snarky comment I win the argument explain to me how this makes the game better at all please were I would love to see the struggle of you justifying this
I don’t defend it, I hate microtransactions. But if the map packs are gonna be for free because of that then we need to be fine with it. Everyone wins. besides its quick to get everythimg. 2 months max for me. 3-4for a casual player. In Reach you had to play for like a year 5h a day to get everything. your argument that we already paid for something that its already in the game doesn’t make sense though, by that logic unlocking it through progress its the same, they are making me playing to unlock stuff I already paid for? What, I have to play the first 3 campaign missions before I can start the 4th even though I paid for the whole campaign? That’s your argument

No problem with micro transactions you must just be a broke boy looool
You’re still going to get items from REQ packs, the same as those who paid for them. The ones who paid for them just get them a bit earlier. You still have the means to combat people with power weapons/vehicles with your own inventory.

“When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and the have-nots,” Holmes said. “The people that have the map pack can play together but the people who don’t cannot. That to us is a real problem. So we’re delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem.” - Josh Holmes, 343 studio head
I’d say that’s a pretty good reason to think they will be free.

Well I disagree about paying for the first map pack… they did say it would be free - and backing out of that would be horrible PR. Still, I don’t really like that you can pay for reqs. It does become like gambling, and for people who easily fall into that, this could present a huge money sink. Now hopefully people have self-control, but even I, who never gambles, feels a strong pull to just buy ‘one’ gold pack.
I would MUCH rather have to pay for REQ packs vs map packs that divide the player base. Those days of a complete $60 game without some sort of way to get additional money are gone. Do you really want the player base split?

That’s not even remotely close to what I’m arguing. When you buy the game you pay 60 bucks that come with all the armors that you then play to unlock but they’re already there in the game that you payed 60 bucks for now you pay 3 bucks for a pack and get and armor yes now you can use it sooner but it isn’t some new armor that didn’t ship with the game at all it was already there so in essence you payed extra for something already there
Halo 5’s Warzone isn’t pay to win, I been playing it religiously and haven’t spent a dime on req packs. I even wrote a Waypoint article on how to best go about the Req system
The Cheapest and Fastest way to unlock everything from the Req packs

When are we gonna stop taking these companies at face value though remember the awesome campaign they promised and all those trailers where it looks like chief and loche will be in some epic struggle against one another and then the campaign was pretty poor and chief loche dynamic was one cutscene and the wet fart of an ending. 343 sayd the first pack will be free if it is free it’ll prolly be a rework of maps we have and as low cost as can be. But I think they’ll charge theyll say hey guys these reqs didn’t make the money we thought so they’ll charge but at slightly less then we’ve seen in other games I’m predicting 10 to 15 bucks. And alllll the people defending thisbreq system will defend that exclaiming how they saved everyone 5 bucks

I don’t care about pay to win and the req system is good for warzone but the fact that armor unlocks are random and that they want you to pay to get them is my issue. Reach did this just fine but people say it was a bit to grindy OK fine 343 reduces the grind and puts in a couple of unlocks that are either very grindt or require certain achievements or something for the more hardcore than everyone’s happy.
