Defend the Scarab Gametype?

So I had an idea about a gametype where a single Scarab is placed on any BTB map and one team must defend it while the other must try to destroy it. Basically the team on the Scarab must keep it alive for as long as possible. Then it switches to the other team and vise versa until each team has had two chances. Then whoever keep the Scarab alive the longest total wins. If thats confusing imagine KotH and the hill is on the Scarab but it only counts for that one team and as soon as the core is destroyed the match ends. You could do the same thing with a Mammoth or Elephant. What do you guys think?
Also I imagine the Scarab would be controlled by players.

Meh, the scarab is big and easy too shoot. Knocking it out would probably be little more than grinding tank shots which, as the point of the gametype, probably wouldn’t lead to as much fun as you might have with a big stompy.

What I’d love to see is something where you have to defend something from against a player-driven scarab. (See. Hoth in star wars battlefront 2.) It fits the role of the vehicle a little better and it adds a little extra incentive and spice to the “lob more things at the vehicle that can’t dodge it” gametype. Plus if you set it on a snow map it’ll lead to some more interesting trash talking. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well think of the Scarab as the Halo 3 variant. All a tank could do was make the Scarab stop but players had to actually get on and destroy the core. It wouldn’t be easy to defend it which is the point.

The scarab is too simple for a defend gametype in my opinion.

I say this because, an assault on the scarab would only consist of the small core room and the balcony surrounding it. So you would have an entire team camping a single room and a few others right outside of it.

Now say we had a covenant ship with a significant sized, complex layout that we had to board and destroy. That would be a good gametype.

This is why space battles would be awesome for halo. Ship to ship battles would be great for invasion, the same can be said for ground invasion game types that involve taking down a single ship.

I had a similar idea but instead it was a escort gametype where you had to get a engineer to the safe zone.

But I agree with everyone above me it to easy for the offensive team, but I can see a different version of this working.

All you need to take a Scarab down is a Missile Pod or a very well placed rocket. Really not that hard at all, you can finish a fight in about 10 seconds if you practice.

The Scarab would be more suited for large-scale battles. Whether it’s Scarab vs Scarab or Scarab/Lich vs Mammoth/Vulture I think it would work better.

That sounds like a really cool idea, but a Scarab would have to be in an Arena for it to be believable. Those suckers can climb almost anything =P

If done right, ABSOLUTELY! This would be a small game changer for the good of Halo.
