You know I’ve been thinking about how some decision that John makes will drive some people to condemn him. Do you think it will cause him to be a rouge asset that will actively fight against the UNSC?
Will the other spartans follow him (excluding the IV’s)?
I’m not saying he would join the insurrection or the elites but his own stand alone faction.
I would like to read about other peoples thoughts on the matter.
LOL! I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. I’m just pretty sure that due to the act that Chief practically stopped the Covenant on his own, on numerous occasions. That said, I highly doubt that they could risk losing an asset that valuable by even trying to discharge him.
They can’t have him going off on his own. He has extensive knowledge of the UNSC, how their ships work, how the Marines are trained, what their equipment is, and much much more. He’s also part of the high-cost budget to produce super-soldiers. They’d be stupid to even TRY something like that.

Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. He leaves on his own accord because people in ONI want him dead. He could also convince other spartans to leave with him and let the more peaceful insurrectionist join up as well.
And I completely understand that. I’m just saying that the UNSC would likely -get rid- of him in the case that they needed to do anything of the sort.
Good luck trying to kill him they’re going to need it.
We’d probably be very surprised at what the UNSC, specifically ONI, could do.
But I mean he isn’t just one man he convinces his Spartans and the Threes to defect with him. Maybe hijack a few ships, colonize a planet, and let some people from the more peaceful parts of the insurrectionists live there. He could fight who ever he wants as well and help out when he can if he chooses to.
343i wants to make him a leader of men but probably not in the way I’m thinking. I just want some peoples thoughts on this.
I wish people would get this notion of the condemnation of John out of their heads. Its not going to happen, Spartans are just too useful and too loyal. Not to mention he’s the most decorated soldier alive.
Just because he has a disagreement with someone doesn’t mean he’ll be hunted and killed by ONI. In fact a few higher-ups dislike spartans for whatever reason. Quite a few ODST’s hated spartans for instance.

I know he wouldn’t be hunted down and killed because of some disagreement with some -Yoink- bag. I’m saying what if his “decision” what ever it may be will make a lot of people hate him. This isn’t just some disagreement with a higher up its a lot of people wanting him dead and his head on their desk.
If he did defect, what would he do? Fight against the UNSC, humanity’s best chance of survival? John isn’t that dumb.
But Master Chief will never defect, the UNSC made him.
Well I don’t know about the UNSC proper and so on…but god do I sure hope that we get to go rogue and go on a running riot gunning down ONI, those sons of -Yoinks!- need to go down hard. So yeah, I hope either we go rogue and get to hunt down ONI…or ONI itself is declared a rogue agent (which it totally should be) and we get to hunt them down…either way I want to bring the murder train down on ONI and slaughter them all.
ONI has been getting more villainization than most recently…
What if ONI became a direct threat to the UNSC? Conflicting orders? Maybe so.
But you wouldn’t survive. Because they have the INVINCIBLE MARINES!!! (Gotta be a canon explanation in there for them somewhere…)
Not only that, but you have to figure that without the ONI making those, hated, decisions, humanity would’ve been doomed.
The Master Chief is not a Robot, nor is he a fully Indoctrinated soldier. He is a man who has always done what he believed was right. Obviously fighting to prevent Humanity’s destruction was the right thing to do but now what? The Master Chief went to sleep with the understanding that Humanity and the Sangheili would end their aggression. The fight was finished. When he wakes up he’s going to learn the back stabbing ONI did to the Arbiter and I don’t think he’s going to be too happy about that. I don’t believe this one thing will be the thing that turns him against the UNSC but it will be a factor.
Clearly the UNSC and ONI are out of control. They’re already eager to stick it to the Sangheili and they’re already preparing for war against the Insurrectionists all over again. The UNSC has learned nothing from their war with the Covenant. This is the recurring theme in the Kilo-Five series. ONI has been unleashed and although their intentions are good, they are going to do more damage in the long run than they believe.
I found “The Impossible Life and the Possible Death of Preston J. Cole” an interesting read. It introduces us to a new kind of Insurrectionist group, one which lives somewhere outside UNSC and Covenant space. These people are organized enough that they have the ability to design and build new classes of Starship which is kind of an incredible thing. Admiral Cole unknowingly married a Captain from this group and when he learned she was still alive, he seemingly faked his death and went to live with them. As of December 2552 it had been theorized he is still alive and with these people.
I almost wonder if the report in this story was written post war for a reason. Besides the Chief, Admiral Cole is one of the greatest heroes the UNSC has ever known and he ran away with the Insurrectionists to be with his wife. He abandoned the UNSC during their war with the Covenant. Will these Innies play a role in Humanity’s future? I don’t know, but I personally see the UNSC as we know it going away and being replaced with a new order.
The Master Chief won’t defect because he is Humanity’s Guardian and he will lead Humanity into a new era. The “evil” UNSC’s days are numbered but Humanity will unite and it will rise.
