Default Sprint.....

What are you’re thoughts on default sprint? I know the competitve side generally does not like it, and Halo has always strategic battles partly because you could predict enemy movements so well and sprint kind of ruins that. Its kind of like CS(A game I also play) in that way, being able to know X player is going to be here at exactly one moment and pre-set shots/grenades is vital to being a good player.

As a Halo veteran I really do not like sprint, but I heard you cant even remove it now…

Also as a side topic, can you universally apply speed boost to replace sprint and would you play a game-type with universal speed boost?

What is the point of adding sprint if you’re just going to make the maps bigger because of it.

Net gain is zero…

Doesn’t matter to me.

Default sprint should have been in halo franchise since 2004 when halo 2 came out. Bungie had toughts about putting it !

I agree. I’d rather play with no sprint on a Guardian-esque map than play with Sprint on the maps they’re giving us.

I dont get sprint in Halo period with the longer kill-times in all but I would rather have them on maps like Zealot made for them then on smaller maps like Countdown or Warlock where it ruins the flow of the map.

I get people are accustomed to sprint, but 10+ years of playing Halo and other shooters without sprint and then playing Halo with sprint is a less enjoyable experience.

That is why I think universal speed boost is interesting for a competitve game-type if nothing else because it speeds Halo back up and enhances things like strafing which have sucked in Halo Reach.

H2 would of been ruined by sprint IMO thank god they did not. H1 as well.

I’m not really fan of sprinting, increased movement speed would have been a lot better in my opinion. I think I can tolerate that though…until sprinting energy sword users appear with their camos.

Sprint alters things, not ruins them.
Sprint adds depth to strategy, but yes is it does throw off timing predictability, that’s how I know it adds more strategy (instead of the claimed removal).
Sprinting gives you the choice to sacrifice immediate response with faster movement and now you can’t run if being shot. So you’re not sprinting away from a fight you should have lost anyways because the kill would have been had, not missed, if it was. The running away occurred at default movement speed on a player you’re connecting shots with. The excuse of sprinting away is buh-bye

Sprint is needed, assassinations, shield re-charging and bigger maps it helps.

It’s in the game and so close to release, not much -Yoinking!- to be had here.

It’ll be interesting to see if 343 can succeed where Bungie goofed with Reach Sprint. Reducing sword lunge, making Sprint native, and slowing down when shot seems to be the right way to go.

Now we just need to know if Sprint can fit on these maps. Some think no, others yes and the remainder don’t give it a -Yoink- one way or another.

Though when a more hardcore playlist is implemented, i know for a fact it will be disabled because IIRC, you can do that in the custom game options.

Sprint is a great idea. end of.

Of all the AAs that were put in the Game, sprint is the most fair, easy to use and less gamebreaking of all. I kinda like it, hell I want it!

I’ve been playing some Halo3 back and fourth, and I kinda miss it from time to time. That means they’ve done something right. Can’t wait for thrusterpack either. All these small movementincreasing effects are brilliant for making a character you and only you can controle. Can’t wait!

Sprint isn’t an AA anymore…

It wasn’t exactly balanced in Reach either. While not as bad as Armor Crutch and Derp Packs/Active Camo, double pummel tactics and gigantic sword lunge made Sprint annoying.

Evade in Reach was just as bad as it made the sword lunge OP and reduced the size of your hitbox too. Thruster Pack is much more balanced and just looks awesome. Plus, we can air dash with it!

Personally, I like it.

I feel it adds a good bit of strategy and more movement options, its no longer a Armor Ability, instead it functions as its own core element. Spartans are also meant to be fast and relentless Sprint helps achieve that in game if used right.

343i actually done it the best way possible by making it a actual full time option for players, instead of forcing players who only have sprint available to them to fight against opponents who are using Camo, Evade or Jet Pack like Reach did so very often.

It also has many weaknesses as well, when you are shot you will slow down as your shields are forced to take the hits, I truly am interested in seeing how it will function.

I still wonder why everyone complains about the maps, there not to large and they look fantastic, smh at you people seriously be happy about something for once.

Sprint is awesome and was the only armor ability i used in Reach. Completely ignored the rest. If i had my way there would be sprint as default (like it is) but no armor abilities what so ever.

Same here. As for sprint in Halo 4, I’d rather have increased movement speed. I don’t mind sprint at all though.

I thought they made it to where when shot, you slow down thus making it ineffective for escaping? I’ve been following the dev. pretty closely and I’m sure that was said.
Fact or myth?

I absolutely love that sprint is default now. I’ll actually be able to use other armor abilities, as I always felt I had to pick sprint in Reach.

And as for sprint in general, I think 343i is taking it in the right direction. Sprint in Reach was flawed, as you could easily run away from battles, but now the slow-when-shot mechanism should really help with that. I think it’s a great addition to Halo if implemented right, and that seems to be what 343i is doing.
