Default Sprint will benefit the game

Now every player, no matter their skill, rank, or group affiliation.
No matter their experience, teamates, or weapons.

We can all Leroy Jenkins.

Atleast I have chicken.

The thing is no one will ‘Leroy Jenkins.’ They’ll run away when their shields are down and then come back and kill the guy who would’ve killed them in the first place if they didn’t have sprint.

I’m not saying players shouldn’t be able to escape when their shields go down, but sprint makes it too easy.

Why does no one understand that you can run away just as easily without sprint?

LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
JJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSS!!!

Sprint is bad regardless of how it’s implemented, the movement speed in arena shooters needs to be static. Having the ability to suddenly increase your speed, regardless of the drawbacks that come with it water down the gameplay in that it makes it near impossible to predict player movement. Hopefully there’s an option to remove it from certain gametypes.

You’re in luck then! In Halo 4, a player slows down when getting shot at while sprinting. That way, players who have run out of shields won’t be able to run away from a fight as quickly.

Don’t forget that it’s only in bursts (like in Reach) and shooting someone who’s sprinting will slow that person down/stop the person from sprinting. So you can’t maintain sprint for very long at all.

You haven’t seen how it’s implemented and you haven’t played the game, so let’s not hear general speculation. Doom was one of the first deathmatch titles and that was played at a pace at least 10x that of Halo. Not to say Halo should be that fast, the point is, if the speed is implemented correctly, the maps and other gameplay elements are structured around sprint as the BASE speed and the other armour abilities aren’t too overpowered, it could be a great new feature.

It never made sense to me that Spartans couldn’t run and it made even less sense in Reach that now they could on run when fitted with a sprint button in their armour.

Wow. It’s like you didn’t even read my post before quoting and responding to it. The movement speed in arena shooters needs to be static. Having the ability to suddenly increase your movement speed makes it near impossible to predict player movement.

If your good, you’re going to have good judgement of when the enemy is about to bolt. It doesn’t make it impossible, but adds more decision making to it. This is the fun part. When you have more possibilities to think about (where and when he’s going to run). I actually like it being more random, brings in the challenge (is that not what you want).

When you play Reach, you have to assume that the player may try to charge you or not, or flee. It’s not just equal playing ground every singe time and no surprises, like in Halo 3. YOU are given more responsibility based off of your predictions.

I am Leroy, I will go Jenkins!

LOL nope. <3 everyone has sprint now. run and i will chase you down. OR run and ill shoot you in the back, itll slow you down so no escape for you :3

No. Bad players will Leeroy Jenkins while good players will focus on proper positioning and exploit Sprint to crush their opponents.

My biggest problem with sprint is that usually when sprint is used in any game halo, tes, cod etc the regular movement speed decreases and that would ruin the strafing tactic of halo

Guess what, movement speed isn’t effected this time around.

> It’s also worth mentioning that just because everybody has Sprint, base movement is not slow. If you’re familiar with previous Halo games, we looked at the speed and mobility of Halo 3 as the inspiration for Halo 4.

People. Please research before you assume things.

sorry I haven’t been on the forums in a few weeks thanks for clarifying

but if regular movement speed is fast and sprint is faster then that wouldn’t that make sprint god speed

We don’t know yet, but from what we’ve been told with how you will slow down your Sprint when getting shot, it shouldn’t matter all that much.

> My biggest problem with sprint is that usually when sprint is used in any game halo, tes, cod etc the regular movement speed decreases and that would ruin the strafing tactic of halo

Movement speed is supposedly the same as halo 3. They increased map size to cater for the sprint ability.
