Click stick to crouch has been a mainstay in Halo since it’s beginning so many players want to keep that intact. We all got pretty use to having sprint on LB with Reach’s recon and honestly none of the AAs require both thumbs to control so putting sprint at LB, crouch at LS, and AA at X just seems right to me.
In my opinion all AAs should be like Camo where it’s tap once to enable and tab again to disable. We don’t really need to hold X for the thruster pack do we?
The way I see it:
Default - Exactly like Halo 1 and 2’s, but with AA/Sprint on the bumpers and change 'nade on d-pad.
Recon - Same as default, but swaps Reload to RB and AA (or sprint) to X.
Bumper Jumper - Same as default, but swaps AA and sprint (bumpers) w/ Jump and Melee (A/B).
I like this setup, but I would prefer to have armor ability on right bumper and reload on x, mainly because I assume that there will be multiple AA that require holding down the button and I cant do that while I’m trying to look around.
Honestly I always preferred Halo CEs controls and Reach had the best default in my opinion. Whoever the man or woman was who put melee on a bumper and the action back on the x while making room for an ability control and placing the nade switch in an ergonamic location. Hope he or she got a promotion.
Looked at the linked pic after I posted so…
Edit: Raging Striker approves… somewhat, don’t like toggle crouch that much and crouch being on the B button kind of irks me. Other than that it looks great.
