Dedicated Server

343, for the love of Halo, get a Dedicated Server!

There have been too many games where people lag, have unfair host advantage, black-out the game, get killed while the host changes…

We’ve all seen it happen. We all hate it. And this can all be fixed if 343 spends a little of OUR money for a Dedicated Server.

I seriously don’t see a point in not doing it… Then the matchmaking is a lot more fun and skill based, they can see what needs to be balanced and the community is a lot better then.

Agree. So much agree. It’s 2013, and most of their competition has Dedicated servers now.
I know several people who have jumped ship for that very reason.

I love Halo 4, but lag issues that we’ve had since Halo 2? Come on guys, surely -Yoink!- has enough invested in this franchise to see the benefits of supporting this.

servers cost money simple as that. 9/10 games use hosts for multiplayer, sure it seems unfair but its 10x cheaper than spending thousands upon thousands keeping servers up.

BF3 charged an extra 10$ per account to play multiplayer on their servers, and they have a rent a server option that lets people pay their own fee for a dedicated server.

most online PC games that are F2P have online micro-transactions that pay for their servers as well.

think about it, having dedicated servers is not only a money issue, you cant just have 1 server then you would never be able to host everyone at once nor still keep everyone from lagging, you would still need servers placed around the country to keep connections positive.

simply put check your connections, i cant tell you how many people download as they play or have others in the house who download or stream the same time they play. i only get about 100mbps which is pretty slow to a lot of players and i get hardly no lag, so its not the game.

How true that is, it’s merely an investment. It builds up a name for the company. Besides, you don’t need to pay that much for a good server. You can make one yourself very easily, costs about 50$ per server I think. They could assign people for it even.

Please use this thread to discuss dedicated servers. Thanks.
