Now that the automatics have been nerfed, and strafing speed has been upped, all we need is a slight decrease in RoF with the BR and DMR and kill times will be perfect. I noticed that 4-shots were happening too often (thanks a lot bullet magnetism) and they were happening too fast. I haven’t done any real calculations, but its not hard to tell that the BR in halo 5 shoots significantly faster than the BRs in halo 2, 3, and 4. I’m sure it was probably to account for bigger maps and generally faster moving Spartans, but even with the strafing speed upped and the auto weapon nerfs, the RoF on the precision weapons allows for insanely quick kills, too quick for halo, even for a 4-shot. Other than that though I honestly feel the game is shaping up to put halo back on the FPS throne.

This, and then increasing spread on everthing, and taking away whatever the heck makes the weapons so easy to use in Halo 5. And I’m talking about literally all the weapons, not just autos, which were already terribly powerfull.
How about just getting rid of bullet magnetism? I thought the ROF was just fine
RoF is fine, we just need more of a headshot bonus. If you could 4SK through headshots, but it took 5 bodyshots to pop shields, there’d be no more easy kills and people would actually have to work on their aim.

or you could decrease the amount of aim assist, then people really would have to work on their aim. I would also say they need to do this with absolutely ever weapon, not just the BR

Yeah but at this point I’m pretty sure that bullet magnetism is set in stone. It’s here to stay just like sprint. Whereas RoF can easily be tweaked, and a slight decrease would make the TTK reminiscent of Halo 3’s TTK, which was perfect in my opinion. If the BR in Halo 5 shot at the exact same rate as Halo 3’s BR, and obviously with the DMR shooting at a slightly higher rate, paired with the post beta changes, I’d be one happy Halo fan.

I honestly loved the aim assist in H5:G. It reminded me of Halo 3’s low aim assist.

Wouldn’t be complaining if 343 made either change. I remember thinking aiming in Halo 2 was too easy, but it’s somehow gone downhill from there, despite the reason for those huge hitboxes (XBL netcode being in its infancy) disappearing.

… what, look at how many perfect 4 shot kills there are in halo 5 clips, then look at halo 3, the aim assist is totally different. I guess if it feels the same to you though, there is no point in arguing.

Yeah, Halo 2 on the Mcc was terrible when it first came out, I can have fun with Halo 2 classic after they updated though, seems like they made the hitboxes like they should be, but Halo 2 anniversary is weird, it seems too easy to Br people compared to Halo 2 classic

Well I said it reminded me of Halo 3, not that it was exactly like it. And I think the frequent 4-shots have more to do with large hitboxes and bullet magnetism, not aim assist. But like you said, no point in arguing.

yeah halo 2A had some sort of hitscan thing going on sort of like halo 4, unlike halo 2 classic.

There was aim assist in the Beta? I didn’t notice any at all.

Your reticle gets sticky once it lands on someone, in this case it gets very sticky, In other Halos there was only thick aim assist when someone wasn’t moving, I have tested this out before. Btw I’m not counting Halo 4 lol

I don’t think Halo 3’s TTK would work well in Halo 5 because Halo 3 also had very slow movement speed. As long as bullet magnetism is in the game, tweaking the ROF won’t solve anything.
The comparisons from H4 and H5 to H3 and H2 are often without the proper context.
H2’s TU had the BR’s spread removed because online play was so darn unreliable back then. It helped but the unreliability made off-host average shots to kill closer to 6.
MLG: H3 used 10% damage buff… For (mini-nukes) a more consistent experience with the BR… On LAN and small map matches!!! (don’t forget, 10% increase in basespeed too).
H3’s BR mechanics are not to this day good for online play and for the “pros”, it wasn’t good enough for LAN at the time.
H4 and H5 use hitscan with 11-bullet, 4-shot BR’s. Of course the average TTK from H3 is going to be different. The pros didn’t quite like it from H2’s gameplay either!!!
… And players can’t run away in H5 if you shoot them before the reach top speed. If you hit an enemy attempting to sprint, they CANNOT sprint.
I am very happy with the speed of H5’s gunplay and am eager to try the movement tweaks. I’m not sure if sprint top speed needs to be debuffed BUT the changes are only there, nothing in numbers or better yet, FEELING.
The average TTK’s are greatly appreciated by myself… Those MCC H3 games are “hell” compared to the others.

Well I mean a slower RoF on the most used weapons, aka BR and DMR, will generally result in slower kill times. And I know it wont solve anything “bullet magnetism-wise” but I feel a faster strafe speed along with a slower fire rate would result in more precise shooting and aiming, instead of easy, rapid 4-shots… Which in my opinion solves something.

So basically like Halo 3…
