Declining War Games Populations

It’s Saturday, and there are less than 100,000 people playing war games. Prime time - > All of North America and Europe is up, it’s a day off.

What gives? And more importantly, what can 343i do to avoid this from happening? This affects everyone, since less players = less playlists and / or more lag. Team Slayer Pro, barely over 1000. Expect to see that gone, for sure.

Probably make sure the new maps are good, and get a timely TU to fix -Yoink- thats plaguing the game right now.

They’ll be back.

Who cares. As long as I can find a game its all good. Halo 4 is great!

it’s natural. the big buzz for the game has worn a bit, a couple other games have come out. people just got stuff on black friday. there are other games you know

everyone is up? are you sure? It is not even 9am on the West coast. Look in the afternoon or evenings for Primetime.

That part of the Halo community that is obsessed with player population. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

Bro who cares? Did you miss the part in real life where a lot of people are still celebrating Thanksgiving? People also have lives you know. I personally jumped online yesterday for the first time in like a week because I’m dealing with a sick family member.

I remember the days where I had to system link Xbox’s just to play multiplayer in halo CE. Is 100,000 players too small for you? Are you having a hard time finding a game? I think not

I wish good health for your family!

I have to work today, as does a guestimated 1/3 of those working in retail. So there goes a bunch of people, especially young ones that are the large portion of the people who play multiplayer regularly(By young i mean the 16-23). So, just because its saturday and its traditional that people have the weekend off it does not make it 100% true all the time, and in addition to that, lots of people who DO have the weekend off spend it with friends/family/significant others and not on halo. Just saying

I like seeing all the excuses being made for the low population. Fact is the population is low because people are pissed off with the hundreds of issues with this game. The population with Halo 4 has been low pretty much since launch, yet other games have continue to hold high populations. This is because those games were finished when they came out, and didn’t have any issues (or very few).

The OP is correct in relating the low population to the issues with this game.

Most people realized by now that the game is absolutely horrible.

> Most people realized by now that the game is absolutely horrible.

actually its the best halo since halo 2, and its better than any cod game, although it does need some fixes. And the decline in population can also be blamed on the lvl 70 cap that they put on SE owners. I personally know of at least 40 other people besides myself stuck at 70 that don’t want to play until we can continue to level up and not waste exp.

One reason why Halo may have less players is: CoD. Almost every single person in my friends’ list who had Halo turned to CoD BO2, I feel so alone now lol. Some left because Halo 4 wasn’t a game they wanted (to each their own, being able to call attacking dogs, choppers or nuclear strikes isn’t my thing lol), some because they couldn’t do as good as they wanted (it feels tough to kill someone with headshots in Halo compared to 2-3 bullets in the torso for CoD) and some are playing BO2 because their friends are playing it too. The amount of copies CoD sells every year isn’t necessarily because of how good people think it is but because they know it’s the game to play if they want to have most, if not all of their friends to enjoy the game together.

Regrettably this is probably true.

I don’t play with my friends often because they all play COD.

Same here, I’m tired of logging into the XBL to see "friend 1: CoD / friend 2: CoD / friend 3: CoD etc.

I’m just happy to see 2-3 friends playing CoD because I was tired of having them in groups and hearing them rage all the time (I kept thinking “go back to CoD… -.-”).

343i tried to bring across cod fans by adding cod features, which has alienated a lot of the halo community who wanted a ‘pure’ halo experience. In trying to appeal to a new demographic they have unfortunatly alienated a large part of their own demographic.

It’s not a matter of people doing other things. Black Ops 2 has like 500,000 right now it’s just 1PM. At night it can get to 800,000. People just stopped playing Halo.

Honestly I think a lot of the reason of the decline of population in Halo 4 is because of this forum. It does not leave a place to discuss Halo.

There have been countless threads that I posted agreeing with someone or saying I like this or that. And they were banned or locked. None of them were anti-Halo, since I think Halo 4 is by far the best Halo for online ever made. This game is amazing.

But the forums and the strict mods that ban everything and anything by calling it spam, non-productive posts, or what they consider “flaming” a certain video that was nothing but a complaining yOiNk fest about Halo 4. We all know which one that is. It was very unprofessional and offered nothing, but a display of immaturity.

So yea, I do think people lost interest. The forums have destroyed any reason to come here anymore to discuss Halo or post to get a group together and play – the very real fear of getting banned due to something so miniscule is so great it out weighs a person wanting to contribute with a post now. Bet even my post here will be banned or locked now.

So really it is their own fault for allowing the strict nonsense that goes on here. I use to come here every day and spend at least 2 hours reading and posting. Now I feel it is a waste of time. It also finds me losing the urge to play Halo 4 as much. And it looks like I am not the only one.

Shame. This is a great game that is going to decline and be nonextistent even before the final map pack is released.

Hopefully they will wake up and see the error of their ways here at Waypoint before the Chrismas rush comes in with a new wave of player population.

If the forums discourage and alienate and runoff that wave, I do think Halo will end as a franchise after Halo 6.

If I am banned for this post as being spam (which this is not), considered non-productive (which it is not), or flaming (which it is not flaming one person or thing), or flaming a mod (which I am not, or did do such a thing) then I will have proved my point and know this forum is really all of the above and I too will become one of the many Halo casualties due to its nonsense.

I stopped playing H4 when I realized it wasn’t Halo. The graphics are great but everything else just sucks.

If Microsoft wants to make some real money, they should just release an H2 remake with full matchmaking capabilities and maybe some new maps.
