Truthfully, we don’t know if thats the Ancient Evil in the Cryptum. For all we know, it could be an ally. Think about it. Master Chief lowered his weapon in the trailer at the sight of it. Wouldn’t someone normally shoot at something that was hostile?

i agree, and the cryptum sensed and could have shot at MC, but Frankie did confirm in an interview the demo was 1/3 into the campaign so by that point MC might know theres no point to shoot at the cryptum or whatever.

I’m more intruiged as to why there are some blue and some orange coloured promethean knights/watchers/crawlers as you can see in the trailer, we know the orange ones are hostile to you (at least in the demo) but what are the blue ones like??

Someone else on here mentioned that in one of the Forerunner novels, the Forerunner Defense AI’s had different colors depending on mode. Red for Hostile, Blue for Guard, and Grey for Offline. So that could be an explanation for the different colors, but then again they might also represent factions.

On the note of the Cryptum though, did you also notice how Chief and Cortana weren’t even in a rush to get to the Infinity, which they knew the Cryptum was headed for? They just walked. They didn’t even seemed surprised, scared, or anything.

thats the halo style though isnt it to just make your way somewhere rather than be given like 5 minutes to defeat a mission, like in almost every halo for example the first mission in reach you find out the covenant are on reach attack them but its never like quick we need to gt to the relay turn it on and tell people the covenant are here its just taking your own sweet time

Not quite what I meant. Obviously during missions your gonna be walking, thats standard Halo gameplay. But I mean in the cutscenes. The first one he just casually walked off as if nothing was going to happen. In the second cutscene he walks through the forest and looks out at everything. You can see the Cryptum in the far distance above some mountains. It just looks like its hovering there. I coulda swore I saw blue lines coming from it that seemed to curved, so maybe it has weapons, but if it did, it appeared to be firing at the Covenant.

Precursors.

> Precursors.

Xenomorphs…

the last precursor was confirmed to be a flood gravemind so probably not them. i think there will be some sort of forerunner civil war or something

> the last precursor was confirmed to be a flood gravemind so probably not them.

He also said other Precursors still live beyond the reach of the Forerunners.

> i think there will be some sort of forerunner civil war or something

There was and it looks to be over and was very brief.

The Xbox Website for Halo 4 states this upon the game:

> The Master Chief returns to battle an ancient evil bent on vengeance and annihilation.

To Zz N4TH zZ

In the trailer you can see that the blue ones are shot at with blue lasers that normally come out of Plasma Rifles. I know the Plasma Rifle was replaced but it seems that even those blue Prometheans and sentinels don’t like the Covenant.
