Get gud, Deci banshees are good but not unbeatable, proper early game play and micro can beat them. Leaders are way more op in teams right now and they aren’t even being nerfed,
In 3’s, you will have better luck building wingman horents. A leader with good passives like Jerome or Kinsano should go wingman hornets. Other players can build Anti Air units.
You really need to pressure the decimus player’s base. Anti Air units will have a hard time defending every base. You will be constantly forced to chase after the banshees. Do not do this. Send the Anti Air with other units (locusts or tanks) and go the Decimus players base. You need to force the issue at his base and wipe out his supply income.
Defend with wingman Horents and Anti Air turrets if UNSC or a camo tower if Banished. You can also hold command a couple reavers at your base to help deter the banshees some. If you have extra power get fortification uogrades. If Decimus brings his banshees back to his base to defend, either bring the Horents there or attack another base with them. Wingman hornets have great base DPS.
Look, sorry for being blunt but if “you and your teammates” can`t take out 1 banshee in the whole army with each of you having “a lot of wolverines” then you really need to rethink your strategy. The forums are getting way to full of people complaining that this leader is OP or that leader is OP after they lose one battle against them. Yes, I agree there are some leaders which are clearly better than others “IN SOME CASES”, but there are ATTACK, DEFENCE and SUPPORT Leaders and if you use them to their strengths, then they can be a force to be reckoned with. If either side has a full army of air, then unfortunately you will need almost a full army of anti-air for a direct attack although I find that air best takes out air with some leader powers chucked in.
Your lack of numerical value for your anti-air indicates that you “thought” you had a lot of anti-air, and in the first Halo Wars game, half a dozen anti-air could combat an Air army effectively but that’s not the case for this installment, so anti-air is only really effective if the enemy has a handful of Air, perhaps a dozen or so tops. After that point the amount of Anti-air you would have to build puts you at risk for other types of attacks. What I recommend instead of coming to the forums and complaining that a “Leader” is OP even though really most of the time its the strategy utilized, (BTW a lot of leaders can pump powerful and high numbers of air quite quickly and I do so with Anders a lot) test some new strategies, so okay what ever you did last time didn`t work out, try a new mix maybe some tanks that can soak up the damage while your anti-air deal with them, or drag them to the front of your base and use the turrets to assist you with some leader power help.
EiTeNeR above has some great points above for beating Decimus, and undoubtedly got them from playing the game and testing new strategies until one worked, then tried others until they worked. And finally, because you get thrashed by a leader doesn`t mean their OP, its gonna happen and it happens to me sometimes, but when it does, I instantly try to counter it and next I get prepared for what can happen before it happens.
I agree he is OP but it’s not his Banshees, it’s his Decimus Drop. Throw that thing into the heat of a battle and use his special ability, he will tear everything up. Makes the Retriever Sentinel look like a childrens toy.
Oh yeah I agree, my friend`s Scarab is constantly dragged around the map from the cover of my units.
No one is realizing that the matchmaking is ultra -Yoink- and has no problems with matching new people against veterans. There’s no reliable way to counter it imo it’s just luck if the enemy messes up or if you scout at the right time. No one in these threads is explaining how to beat any kind of rush strategy except get good. Maybe it would even help to make a mega thread for the meta and how to counter it.
The trick to beating a straight rush to deci banshees is aggressive early pressure. To get a lot of deci banshees quickly the deci player has to sacrifice their early game, and not only that, but get an early expo for supplies. That means you should have an easy time winning a 3v2 for map control then bringing the fight to decimus while denying their expo. You won’t be that far behind on the tech game, especially with nodes and if Decimus didn’t just purely eco, so if you take your marine ball to deci’s base then even a handful of banshees will be melted (remeber, boundless siphon doesn’t even kick in until 4th point, so like 8-9min). Upgrade your infantry and throw in a couple AA units, maybe some anti building units and deci is dead in the water.
Also, the biggest issue with siphon isn’t even direct combat. It is the fact that it heals OUT of combat, which is amplified by Banshee mobility. Yoda’s recent patch showcase highlighted, to me, that this HAS NOT been fixed (Banshee had the healing symbol when flying away from a fight, warlord was still siphoning while walking in circles in front of a base). It is basically a better version of Colony’s combat repair that you get on your 4th point instead of 5th (Granted it doesn’t effect bases and is not always constantly healing even though it is most of the time). That and in combination with boundless fury which just makes everything faster and stronger and you can see why deci banshees are so powerful (and will likely remain so).

Redline 2 doesn’t effect hornets though

Yeah, that’s why I never mentioned Redline 2 directly. You have Heat of Battle and Redline 1 which stays active for a minute. So more than likely you will be pumping hornets so you will always have a few with the redline 1 damage boost. If hell charge was fixed than it would be even better.

What’s wrong with Hellcharge?
I don’t see why Redline 2 doesn’t affect hornets it’s stupid, Just tone it down like BS Banshee’s rather than remove it completely

Hellcharge has a UI radius that is much bigger than the actual buff radius. The UI Radius is 15, 22, 29. While the actual buff radius is the size of Plasma Bolt I, II, and III (10, 12, 14) respectively. To actually see the difference for level 1, compare Arby Stasis and Arby Plasma Bolt I. Arby Teleport vs Plasma Bolt II will give you an idea of the difference on level 2.
