Decimus invincible infantry?

So I just got done playing a game against Decimus. Right off the bat, I knew the dude was solid because HE rushed me (I was playing as Cutter). I couldn’t count how many infantry he had, but with 3 choppers he wiped out 7 groups of marines and an ODST drop. From there, I knew I was done but I managed to throw up turrets and rebuild, getting to tech 2. I have no problem with any of this, btw, he was straight up out playing me (I had never run into this before).

From here though, things get weird. I get a balanced army of Infantry, warthogs, and hornets, and while I was lacking power, I had a ton of resources. He set up a blisterback on the ridge behind my base, so when I countered and went after his army, I called in the close air support. At this point, we were both capped at 80, so I should have been able to take him out, especially because outside of a few engineers and banshees, it was all infantry.

I took out all the engineers and banshees (there weren’t many), and everything including the close air support, went after the Infantry. The thing is, it did no damage. Literally, he had all of his infantry, with no losses, at full health. Everything I had got wiped out, and he did not take a single loss from his high pop infantry.

I looked up his record online, and he is 5 - 0, so I can only assume this is his second account. He’s also a 100% Decimus player (not that I care because I’m a 100% Cutter player), but if this isn’t a glitch he is SEVERELY OP.

Has anyone run into this? I like playing as Cutter, but he is so under powered compared to Forge and Anders that it was getting frustrating. I like the matches against the Banished and the Shipmaster, but this was outrageous. It maybe time to just start playing with the OP leaders until they’re nerfed.

I have run into this many times, I have been playing Anders and the Decimus players that I run into just get a huge army of grunts, and Elite rangers (I think that’s their name) and they just roll over my army of mixed units, even when I am specialising in destroying infantry, Hellbringers, Warthogs, even tanks. The diversity seems to just get absolutely destroyed by the Grunts and Elites, which is frustrating, I assume that Decimus has an ability that make his infantry unkillable when they reach low health.

But I know your pain!

I know Decimus has the Siphon leader power, making it so units heal by doing damage, and he also has a Siphon passive…but you can usually see that happening. I’d be curious to know if this is a hack or glitch he’s using, or actual gameplay.

Gotta love invincibility… am I right? Am I right?

If you’re on Xbox you can create clips.

Decimus has a short duration siphon boost. I have never tried it on infantry though.

The siphon boost is really obvious, it looks like the restoration drones leader power the UNSC leaders have, but it’s not so ‘nice’ looking I guess, it is more ‘sharp’ rather than a ‘fluffy’ aura. I think there is an effect for something like units not dying when they are at 1hp, they get blue (?) effects shoot upwards and then they just don’t die.

Excuse my descriptions!

Thanks all for the input, yeah I guess this was that. Is it a passive? I just found it so hard to believe that between the close air support and all of my anti infantry, I wasn’t able to take out ANY of his troops.

I would actually like to see the sentinels against this. I feel like they would even each other out.

I play as him and are you sure you don’t mean atriox?

That’s Atriox’s Dying Breath ability. Decimus is all about life steal.

I definitely played against Decimus. It’s worth noting, I’ve played against him before and never experienced anything like it (hence why I had to make a thread about it!).

He has a Boundless Siphon passive ability which adds permanent life steal to his troops. He also has the active ability called Siphon which does the same thing. One of his ultimates is also a passive, Boundless Fury, which permanently increases the speed and damage of his troops.

Know your enemy.

yea he was using the siphon ability…its seems very under used but it is extremely powerful…once they fix banished infantry unsc will be a thing of the past

With this ability, they really shouldn’t adjust the banished infantry.

Honestly for me it’s kind of the opposite.

They have a mixed army of everything and I have anti units to everything (pretty well mixed) then they just steamroll me regardless.

yes they still need a major buff, i have never had any ban player come close to stopping my cutter marines…simply because of grenade toss…it wipes grunts out really fast, along with adding some snipers into the play…ban dont stand a chance…im guessing you lost because of bad micro…not running when he has a leader ability up…if you sit and try to fight while they have siphon, unbreakable, bulwark etc its a losing battle…you need to run away for a bit until it wears and get back into the fight…

ban dont need much they honestly need to give grunts plasma grenades again and make elite snipers viable and tier 1…and not cost so much f’ing energy

Believe it or not, he was able to rush me. Which makes sense coupled with the passive ability, even though I had even numbers (and grenade toss) I wasn’t able to do anything.

Wasn’t bad micro, just a good strategy on his part. Obviously this may be a bit OP, you’ll understand when you run into it.

the passive healing isnt until tier 4 leader powers…so if this was early game that wasnt it…and siphon only lasts 15 seconds or so…im not sure what he could have done against you early game against marines…its just not feasible , ive had grunt rushes with siphon on me and my marines still walked right through it…there is nothing OP about banished early game…there is nothing even remotely good that they do early game that UNSC isnt better at…thats fact

So try this. 2 Choppers, 5-8 grunts. Pressure the UNSC Base. When you run into their force that they were going to use (usually at that point it will be 6-8 marines), hit siphon and you will take them out. From there, you can control the map and likely won’t take any losses. At that point, it’s just a matter of tightening your grip on the map and producing more units to take them out.
