Deceptive Marketing of the Limited Edition !!

Just heard 2 things that have made me mad at the way they marketed the Limited Edition, firstly heard the extended FUD is only available streamed not as advertised at being included along with a behind the scenes feature and a making of the game docu.

Now I’m hearing the specializations that they promised early access for LE users is now being offered to SE buyers as well.

Add to the insult at buying the LE is the fact the retail dlc season pass comes with 2 exclusive helmet skins and an emblem, which LE users don’t get.

So cheers Microsoft /343i nice way to treat the hardcore fans, all we get extra is a few prints (i.e. the weapon schematics) a skin and crummy avatar item.

Don’t get me wrong I love the Halo franchise, and I know I’ll be playing 4 for years to come but I’ve already felt shafted this week being an halo fan, knowing all the pirate gamers got to play it 3 weeks early. Now I’m hearing my expensive edition is all but pointless. No wonder people are canceling their copies, I bet theres going to loads of unsold LE copies on sale at xmas.

Yup, this is what we get for paying almost double.

> Yup, this is what we get for paying almost double.

marketing is sad now a day is it not? i regret buying it but i want the metal box so i guess ill spend 40$ on it…no logic in that statement but whatever im just too lazy to cancel my preorder

I know bro, what the hell is this? I pre-ordered the LE under the impressions that I’d get some bonus and exclusive in-game content. Now I learn that recruit armor is the basic armor. We’ve been had lads! I ain’t getting any LE from Microsoft any more.

I’m only paying an extra £20 and the war games pass costs £20 anyway. I don’t even care about all the features I’m not getting, I feel it’s still a good LE. If you want to blame anyone, blame Microsoft, they’re in charge.

This has been my only real disappointment. The glass half full conversation is at least I do not currently have any issues with the game itself. :=)

And how do you know the streaming copy of Forward Unto Dawn DOESN’T have the behind-the-scenes features and making of the game? DO you have any actual evidence?

And as for the Specializations, 343i themselves said Launch Day Access to six specializations, yet even then LE buyers get them early because others get the code to unlock the specializations on the 30th.

Dude I was just about to make a post about this , it’s -Yoinking!- criminal! I’d be better off not getting the LE and getting the SE with my six specializations and then spending the extra money on the season pass which includes extra in game content.

I mean seriously 343i WHAT THE -Yoink-? Nobody gives two -Yoink- about a piece of paper about the Infinity and the Spartan IVs, the reason people want the Limited Edition is for the only good stuff you’re putting in it which is all in game (specializations, map packs etc.) and it would work out cheaper and more value for money if the maps were bought separately and a pre order of the SE was made which includes all six specializations anyway.

It’s an absolute outrage and furthermore, I thought 343i told us the Limited edition of Halo 4 would actually be limited this time but WRONG! More LIES!

At first I believed them when stores were becoming sold out including the store GAME which became sold out a month ago or so, issuing a banner on their website over the Halo 4 LE page saying “Sold out” but no! Today I noticed, their NO LONGER SOLD OUT! It’s a -Yoinking!- disgrace and a mugging of loyal fans, we pay more for the a game in the franchise we love, get less and are lied to about the exclusivity of our purchase.

I will definitely be canceling my pre order this weekend unless 343i do something about this because it’s absolutely -Yoinking!- ridiculous.

honestly this is what you all get for buying an LE for download only digital extras.

I bought my LE for the sweet case and nothing more, same reason I bought the Halo 2 LE.

At first I was angry about this news. But having some time to think about. It isnt enough to deter from my interest in the LE. For starters, specializations shouldnt be exclusive. This is just another rank cap like what Bungie did for Reach at launch.

Secondly, trhe helmets that come with the map pass are actually pretty fugly, if the GEN2 Mk. VI was one of them, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. But outside of that, I’ve lost interest in those other SKU exclusives.

I just want my AR skin and bathroom reading material.

They know they have the hardcore fan base by the balls, which makes me sick. I wanted that steel box since seeing the 1st image of it. So I pre-ordered back in MAY.

I’m less worried about being lied too about the specializations, as game changing mods shouldnt be aloud to anyone really, even if it was just early access.

But false marketing things we don’t get is insulting. Whats the point of FUD streamed !!! we’ve already seen it on waypoint or youtube.

STREAMINGS not owning it, just like all those 100s of 1000s playing the leaked copy are not owning the game.

Well if you buy the Standard you get the Specializations unlocked on the 3oth of November, just saying.

I do.

People have been cancelling pre-orders of the LE too, more probably opened up. Just saying.

Implying that a steel case greatly outweighs the cries of the other issues of other people’s opinions.

And to be fair: The steel case looks mediocre compared to the standard box art. If 343 did what Ensemble Studios did with their LE edition, I would totally agree. But the simplistic grey case is simply meh.

As far as I understand it, it may come earlier than that. From the 6th to the 20th- which is a fourteen day gap- is when SE owners need to be online to get access. If I buy and play it on the 20th, I would get the code by the 30th latest. A ten day gap. So people who get it launch day might not have to wait until the end of the month.

As for the LE itself, considering I bought the Halo 2 and 3 limited editions, this is something of a disappointment. No point in whining about it; I’ll just downgrade to the Standard Edition.

And look at any future Limited Editions with a wary eye- no buying as soon as they are first announced.

Looks like i might as well downgrade that preorder to SE then.

Guys, can you give me the post where is confirmed that the Season Pass Helmet are not for the LE?

Oh well the 30th of November that’s a huge difference almost a whole month woooooooooow. Seriously? That’s you argument? It doesn’t matter that SE pre orders get it very slightly later on the 30th because 1) It’s the fact that they get it at all and 2) They only have to wait until the 30th, big -Yoinking!- deal.

Still, LE owners get them on Day 1, everyone else has to wait until the 30th to get their unlock code. That is how I understand it. You can play at any time from the 6th to the 20th and get the code, but you don’t get it until the 30th. That is how I see it and how the fine print in the e-mail I got implies.
