It bothers me that I can’t 360 camera pan around my body upon death. I haven’t seen this feedback anywhere else myself and I’m not sure if it’s just happening for me. I don’t like the camera being stuck facing one direction on my death though it’s stifling.
I’ve always used this feature while playing with friends shouting out what’s happening or just keeping an eye on the action. I’m enjoying the flight, but don’t understand why this was removed, it’s quintessentially part of Halo multiplayer to me and find myself trying to move the camera every single time!!!

Yeah same, I use the death cam to make call-outs in other Halo games. That’s going to be tougher to do now because of this. I don’t understand why this would be removed either.
The truth is that I had not even noticed it
I like the locked camera approach. Better for comp play, because it’s a lot harder to call out anything that isn’t actually visible by your team
I hear ya, maybe for ranked / competitive it could be an option to enable / disable. I feel like there’s the competetive fans and the just playing for a laugh fans. I’m absolutely in the second camp, but fully respect the other. Give us an option and we’re all happy.

I also dislike this change. I thought I was alone, I like the way the camera is now BUT I believe there should be a cod style approach where, it’s locked, you can then move it and it zooms out a tad to allow free cam, zoom in zoom out, rotate, the ol halo way. but If you could then click like Y or something to snap it back to behind their back it’d perfect. Watching myself die, give me free cam, watching a team mate play for 7 seconds? I want behind back, with the option to see their armor and what’s behind them.
343 pls fix
Yea, many times I was wishing I could spin the camera around to make calls for my team, or just to better see which teammate or enemies were around where I died. Hope we can get full camera movement when we die.

I am going to go out on a limb and say its to prevent you from doing callouts after you die?
Yes, i understand that for competitive play, but Halo was always first and foremost, fun. You play and have a laugh with strangers or friends alike, this feature in particular was just a blast in Big Team. Or even just to keep an eye on the action. Absolutely agree it could be locked for competetive / ranked, as callouts could effect that arena for sure.
Completely agree. Same goes for the forced over-the-shoulder camera on vehicles like the warthog. Now that we have Forge and crazy custom game modes, we should be given the free-moving thrid person cam back.
I thought they chose to do that in order to limit the amount of visual feedback that Pros (& their coaches) could pass on after dying.
My thoughts have been that there’s no reason not to have it pan 360 by default, but keep the option to turn that off for HCS events and playlists; plus, customs.
I too very much miss being able to pan my camera 360 after dying.
Another little detail of the game that was changed for pro players. All the little pro details makes it less fun for everyone else.
