I’m sure plenty of you watch Screwattack’s Death Battle. Chief kicked Doom Guy’s -Yoink-, and beat Jango Fett in DBX. Well I have another one that could feature Halo: The Flood VS The Zerg of Starcraft fame.
Both are alien races that infest other races and violently carve a path of destruction across their respective galaxies. But which do you think would win in a Death Battle?
My thoughts on the Death Battle (take with appropriate salt):
My money would be on the Zerg for this DB.
The Zerg have better adaptability than The Flood, rely less on infestation, and due to their psionic connection they could be resistant to Flood infection. But even if the Zerg weren’t resistant to Flood infection via the psionic connection, they have various acid-based attacks that could dissolve The Flood safely, and Broodlings and Locusts could be used to act as cannon fodder for the Flood Spores.
To top it all off, the Zerg have two trump cards among the Swarm: The Baneling and the Noxious Strain Ultralisk. Even if a Flood Spore tried to infect a Baneling, it would explode and acid-burn every Flood in the area. Seeing as The Flood are vulnerable to fire, I doubt they’d have a resistance to acid.
As for the Noxious Ultralisk, since it emits poison gasses that are deadly to anything non-Zerg, the Flood Spores wouldn’t even be able to get close to the Ultralisks. Additionally, the Flood have no combat forms that match the Ultralisk in size; for some comparison, the Ultralisk is about the size of a Covenant Scarab, if the HotS opening cinematic is anything to go by.
And none of this is taking Kerrigan or Zagara into account. Kerrigan would flat-out stomp a Gravemind (which isn’t much different from Zurvan, the Ancient One from the planet Zerus), and Zagara could probably take one on as well.
And even if the Flood were at its most powerful stage (i.e. the Silentium Age Flood that gave the Forerunners grief), the Zerg could probably cook up something to counter them thanks to their evolutionary prowess. Heck, they could potentially even develop an immunity to Flood infection given proper essence.
