Death Animations

In gametypes with a longer respawn wouldn’t it be better if you spartan had an animation for certain deaths? e.g. crawl a little before death, rather than getting shot in the foot and dying instantly. The killer would still get the points and be able to pick up the weapons immediately.

No

Personally I would not want this idea. 343i is already doing a great job with animations. (You see those sick assassinations?!) Also, I hate making the comparison, but this idea reminds me a little of last stand from CoD. Puts on Flamesuit Please don’t hurt me, I KNOW Halo isn’t CoD its just what came to mind first.

I don’t see why not!

Oh, wait. Because some fools (many of which reside on these forums) would be all like “ZOMFG Halo 4 haz Final Standz 4 nubz!!!”

And people would be all like “WTF bro?”

And Frankie would be all like “Halo 4 does not have a game mechanic that allows you harm other players while dead with anything besides a well-placed grenade prior to death”

And fools will be all “We don’t believe you!!”

And then people who’ve played it a lot are gonna be like “He’s right. Halo 4 has nothing like that”

And then the hattas are gonna be gettin’ up in some grills and stuff and bein’ all “Shut up you stupid fanboys!!! Trying to deny your favorite game has stupid little death-streaks in it, like noobs!!!”

In short: It’s cool, but it would cause some tension.

If you haven’t noticed, people on these forums tend to overreact and misinterpret…

EDIT: Didn’t see your post, Austin. Not trying to steal, I swear!!!

I wouldn’t mind it too much as long as you couldn’t attack anyone while crawling

It reminded me of that too, but I think what the OP is trying to say is that the Spartan falls to the ground and then crawls for like a second or two, the person not being in control. I wouldn’t mind. Meh.

I wouldn’t mind if it was like the one from reach were you crawled like 2 feet before collapsing.

Eh, probably not. The assassinations are enough; why would we need anything else showing our demise?

I don’t mind minor things like clutching your chest as you collapse dramatically to your knees, but if things like that happen, then the body would still need to obey physics. Like if a grenade explodes nearby during the animation, instant-ragdoll, please.

Also, a headshot should be an instant collapse. Just drop like a brick, because you’re dead. Only center-of-mass or limb kills should play animations.

I really liked the headshot animations in Reach. It was like you started to react but ragdolled before you could.

OT, I’d rather not see many animations, they typically get repetitive. That said, it would be fun to mess with people while waiting to respawn, which brings to mind a potential problem. Your body would absorb bullets and block sight, so someone who should be dead could still help his team.

I love the theatrical.

What I don’t like is wasting sniper or rocket ammo on a moving blue body who’s already been “killed.”

In short no.

Honestly, I’m not a great admirer of this idea. I dunno, I guess I always liked an enemy being, y’know, totally dead when I kill them. Well, that’s the best I can convey it anyway. Can’t really word it very well.

just a waste of rendering budget. Maybe next gen.
