You are a game that has gone through a lot. You were Bungie’s grand finale game, what they hoped would be the best Halo yet and a memorable experience.
Many disagreed. Many thought you to be a horrible game, not even worth playing. Countless people returned you. The complaints about you continue today.
And now, we approach the end of your service life. Of course, you’ll still be there, but you will be completely overshadowed by Halo 4.
I would just like to let you know that I thought you were a fantastic video game. You were worth playing. Every one of the countless hours I have invested in you have been worth it. Whether you were the best Halo is debatable. We’re talking about the greatest shooter series of all time. But there is no question that you delivered.
I liked Armor Abilities. I liked the maps. I loved Firefight. I liked the Revenant. I loved the campaign. And I loved your custom games.
While many will always pass you off as a bad game, and while many will not even consider you a Halo game, know that some of us were with you the whole time.
Your time is near. Thousands will never play you again. I will move on to Halo 4.
Good post OP. The only Halo I have spent more time with than Reach was Halo CE. It was a damn good game, and a fitting swan song for Bungie. Who knows, maybe one day I will return to achieve that elusive Inheritor rank.
I don’t think it is Reach’s fault or Bungies. I just think that the people that grew up playing Halo and putting hours upon hours into it are growing up and not finding it too enjoyable to sit there and try to forge your own map, take photos, or just play with other people in custom games. The series itself is getting old.
The thing I’ll remember most is finding that really awesome group of Halo lovers to play Halo with and will continue to play Halo with in Halo 4 and beyond. That said, Monday afternoon and night will be spent playing Reach matchmaking one last time. Going forward from Tuesday, Reach goes back in to box, likely to never be opened again. See ya, Reach. It’s been fun. /single tear
Well after over 2000 matchmaking games and reaching the rank of Hero, I have to say that Reach is an amazing game. Sure you could say that armor lock ruins it, but there are ways to counter it!
I love the physics, the sounds, Forge World, and armor abilities.
Also, Some of the custom games that I have played in the last two years were the most fun and best times that I have had in any video game EVER!
Reach is a great game, i absolutely loved it! I will still go back from time to time. I am glad Halo4 is upon us, because all the Reach haters will finally leave the game and the forum.
Dramatic farewell!!!
runs along side the departing train waving goodbye
As a Noble spartan once said. “Reach has been good to me…”
Granted the road was long and riddled with good times and bad, those words still ring true for me. Every weekly challenge completed since launch, with an overall better career record than what I achieved during Halo 3. Despite all the criticism and haters it brought, I truly believe that Reach was a step in the right direction for the series.
Sure it’s not “goodbye” but it feels like it. I guess retirement really is bittersweet.
> I’ll still be playing reach when halo 4 comes out tbh i don’t think halo 4 will be any good.
I’m sorry you think that.It is a shame that Halo 4 has not gotten the praise it deserves.
The ONLY reason I would play Reach after the 6th, is to get that dam You Blew It Up achievement, that has eluded me in the Invasion playlist for coming up on 2 months.
If you think of it, this ties into the story really well.
Everyone was fine before release. We were happy.
Then the haters came along (the Covenant) and constantly bombarded us with countless criticism and hate, but we still stood to defend the game. Time went on and it seemed as if the haters had won and overrun the forums; hardly finding a person who praised the game. Reach had been defeated, but it has not been forgotten.
