If I get matched into a laggy btb game and half my team quits, and then I proceed to quit too. Don’t re join me into that same game 3 consecutive times in a row. I quit for a reason. Why would I want to re join the same match over and over.

Quit a match and have to rejoin it if you try to reenter matchmaking before it’s over. Seems like a fair way to do it.

Haha serious? So in a social playlist you think I should have to stay and waste 15 mins to play an 8v2 because my team mates quit? There’s a reason 343 got rid of the quit penalty if your team mates quit out before you. It’s a social playlist it’s supposed to be fun not stupid.
I hate when that happens, but it’s the game finding the quickest match for you even if it’s the one you left. Try to wait longer before searching again and that might help reduce your chances of joining that game.

I think quitting harms your teammates in all, but the rarest circumstances. And yes. I don’t take issue with you being put into a match you quit when you try to play again so you could avoid a loss. It seems fair. What 343 did regarding quitting in arena matches has nothing to do with whether or not you should quit or the ethics of the situation (and it isn’t the first thing they did that I disagree with). Since you weren’t quitting due to an emergency or something IRL that needed dealt with then putting you back in the same match seems like a good idea. And the same thing should be true for your compatriots that quit before you.

Completely disagree. It’s a social arena. I’m not about to waste 15 minutes playing a game where you just get slaughtered by vehicles every spawn and have no chance to play or compete. I’m not trying to avoid a loss. I’d gladly take the loss to not have to waste my time and get into a reasonable game sooner.

And when you quit you make things worse for the teammates that remain. You should show consideration for them the same as the people that had quit before you should have shown consideration for you. Them doing the wrong thing doesn’t make it right for you to do the wrong thing. It being social is irrelevant. The world would be a better place if people only quit due to emergencies and IRL stuff.

So get this: Right after I responded to your post last night, it happened to me.
I quit a game because the connection was a bit shaky and I could barely walk. I try a new match and instantly rejoin it. I was pretty ticked on the principle of the whole thing at this point, so I was like, “oh I’ll play your game.” So after a few minutes I managed to betray a few teammates and get booted, thinking there was no way it would put me in the same match the third time. I was wrong. I joined it in progress again. The good news was that the connection sped up a bit by this time and somehow we won. Weirdest game ever.

Haha you got booted and then re joined? That’s epic. Maybe I’ll try that next time. Btb is so terrible I try to avoid it most the time.

Yeah here’s basically what happened: Join, quit, join, boot, join, and win.
I am kind of on the fence when it comes to BTB. It’s all I rally play. Back in the day, I felt like BTB was the full Halo experience. Invasion was too for a time. But now I’m just kind of put off by the repetitive maps ans overwhelming number of human weapons and vehicles. We almost never get a chance to play on Altar or Boulevard. I think it would be nice to have a few more maps and a more balanced mix of covenant and forerunner weapons.

Yeah I agree. And the intermittent freezing issues during the game when players leave drives me nuts.

Yeah seriously! CoD had a decent system where if things got too out of control, the game would go to a lag screen for around 30 seconds tops, and then restart the match with a smoother gameplay. I feel like their version join in progress was a great way to go about it as well. I don’t like how Halo 5 basically “gives up” trying to fill a match. It shouldn’t populate it with the same people who have been quitting over and over again, but sometimes it really impacts games when you’re 2 people down and are playing competitively with the other team anyway.
