Friends, the new Halo 4 looks pretty awesome, the campaign is interesting and surprisingly, the multiplayer overall nice (if only they fix the lag) but there is always someone complaining about some weapon OP or UP, others complaining about missing some medals or playlists (be patient they will be added) or just about the XP cap, becouse they “can’t get all the XP they want”.
I would like to ask you one thing. Turn of a moment the XBox. Go on the pc, search for Halo Custom Edition. It’s a free version of the old first Halo that allows you to play online. Try it. Play it for some time, and look the difference.
Do you really need to complain about all those things, then?
Halo CE was one of the best fps on pc many years ago. Who played it can’t not agree with me, who didn’t should really try it. It didn’t have experience, it was only a “join random server with some friends and have fun”. Vehicles were indestructible allowing you incredible fun action. You could activate infinite granades for making everything the atmosphere even more explosive. There was no AA, no sprint, and weapons were only few, even if some of them are currently missing. Who doesn’t remember the flamethrower? Without talking about the chat. You could chat with others and make friends. You could play tactically becouse at least everyone in your team was reading, not like now that you are playing almost alone in every game.
Halo was a great game from the beginning of his story. Halo 4 is a new start, we should leave it some time to get at is best, to work fully. In the last years people started caring of useless details, like the “lvl” or the “exp”. Come on, really? Think a moment, why do you need them? Is that so important to max them as fast as possible? what do you get at the end, when you won’t have any higher lvl to reach, any other exp to get? The game should be played to have fun in the free time, not to waste your life to reach the top of it.
It’s just the cycle. There were tears over every Halo game that has come out and it won’t change. Those that enjoy Halo 4 will continue to do so and those that don’t will continue to make it known. At this point I don’t any Halo game is every going to please everyone but that’s the way it is with most things.
I still believe that we need a new halo that has no exp/unlocks or more important, no statistics. It will be hard at the beginning for the most players missing them, but at least we would start back playing for fun, as we don’t need to care about k/d or about how much experience you get by doing some actions.
Every game has become about unlocks and stats. It’s really not centered around having fun anymore (for most people). People want stats and a progression system to feel like they are accomplishing something and can show off, when the truth is… no one really cares about anyone else’s stats unless your competing to be better than them.

That is fully true, for that I believe they should make a game without them, and force people to return at the old times where “videogames” were something to have fun in the free time and not something were you lose yourself only becouse you think having an higher rank means you are cool.

Forcing change will not be a positive action. You can’t give someone something and then immediately rip it away from them. Let’s just think of all the things we take for granted like these stats… cars / internet / tv / electricity / etc. Take away ONE thing that has become the “norm” and you’ll send people into a frenzy.
I was a huge Halo CE player on the PC, jumping into those 16 player CTF games on Blood Gulch like it was my life and even joining a clan at some point. It was a really fun game, but it seems like now the community wants a game that’s SO much more serious. Much of Halo CE’s greatness came from just how laid back you could be playing it. It didn’t matter about “rank” and “level” because it was all about playing the game for what it is. It was a game dominated by one gun (the pistol) and no one actually cared.
Just wait for all these complaints on the forums to move on. The game is seriously solid as it is (needing only a few tweaks). I’m really starting to consider just dropping these forums all together. For the last few months I’ve tried getting people to use logic and reasoning and look at things without bias, but it’s just been a waste of my time. Everyday it seems like there’s another rage thread about something. The boltshot threads are the worst. I’m all cool with complaints and I can bring up threads I’ve been in for example if people want to try calling me a fanboy. I understand that this new game has faults like the JiP that need to get fixed. It’s just that a few days ago I really starting thinking about the kind of people that are arguing to the death about these “issues” and I’ve finally come to a conclusion that it’s pointless for me to continue.

See, but thats where you and I differ. It’s all well and good to have mindless fun playing the game. I definitley can’t deny that, as I spent hours running around Halo 2’s campaign without a care (which unfortuneatly can no longer be done in Halo campaigns).
But its difficult for me to get motivated to play something without doing it to the best of my abilities. I like seeing how I compare to the rest of the people who do the same thing as myself. I like to see if I can beat them, if I can pull ahead. Without stats, I wouldn’t be able to to that. It would be significantly less fun for me, as campaign exploration is no longer an option anymore.
I agree, the EXP thing doesn’t make sense to me, but for some people thats how they have fun.

Can I ask you if would be okay to see only the kills/deaths of a round without talking about general stats? The problem is that this way of “comparing to others” can motivate to play but also discourage much more players. In a Deathmatch free for all there is 1 winner and many losers, so with your view of gaming it should mean that only some can be happy to be on the top and all the others pissed and depressed about being under them.
I hope you can understand what I mean. I agree that a game should have something motivating to play it, but the current system creates more problems than improvements. It’s working only becouse as many players leave the game as well join it, keeping the number of players “average”
