Dear halo community,

Dear people who say #fire343,

Why? What do you really think we would get from firing 343? All we would get is MORE delays in getting updates for Infinite. And they would likely scrap the game altogether instead of actually giving the updates. So think about that.

Dear people who are annoyed with the six month seasons,

Not all of us are on our Xbox/PC’s all day every day. Something called school exists. Idk if you’ve heard about it. And some of us have jobs too! so from my POV I see nothing wrong with having a 6 month season.

Dear people who compare halo infinite to og games/MCC
drink lemon juice

yall want to compare halo infinite to the og games/MCC and I don’t get why. Yeah infinite has a few bugs but that doesn’t mean its unplayable! hell look at MCC at launch. in halo infinite you could find a game. so what if there were 4-5 gamemodes? when mcc launched you couldn’t find a game to save your life. you also wanna complain that they didn’t delay the game more? if I remember correctly you were also the people screaming at 343 to get the game out already and were pissed off at them when they had to delay it slightly  chew on that for a bit whydontya.

Dear people who don’t want in game purchases in Halo Infinite,

I have a question for you,

If you released a free game. how would you make money from it?

Its free. same thing with halo infinite, 343/Microsoft cant just release a game for free. They have to make money from it, the campaign is one way but not everyone wants to play the campaign, so they added in game purchases so that they could make some sort of a profit. On the subject of MCC though not wanting in app purchases is fine. its already a paid game. Either way its a free game, they got to have some way to make money from it!

So i am not really saying it now but i know why people say it. It is because with Halo 4 343 had zero respect for what Halo already was. They changed stuff just because they wanted to be different and not because it was good for Halo. I would say H4 is by far the worst Halo. It still had fun MP but was ultimately a bad Halo game.

Well H5 came around and instead of giving us a more classic Halo they went the advanced movement route. This Halo would have been better off a new IP similar to how advanced movement in COD didn’t work but Titanfall was born.

Now in Infinite they had about 7 years to make a new game. For reference Elden Ring was made in about the same amount of time and i would argue that it is one of the best open world games ever made. They did nail the gameplay but some of the cosmetics don’t match Halo’s tone, the lack of key features is huge, and how about a FTP model no Halo fan wanted but we still have to pay $60 for just the campaign and there are no armor unlocks associated with it. To top it off they keep delaying things when they were already delayed themselves. (I love Halo Infinite for the most part but this is all just to answer your question).

I think the issue here is mainly 343 was given ample opportunity to correct course, this is their 3rd game, and people don’t feel they can trust 343 with Halo anymore because they either give us bad Halo games or an unfinished kind-of buggy one. (Player counts for Halo have steadily been on the decline since H4, infinite had a large initial one due to it being FTP but it seems to of dropped a ton)

From my understanding there are a few technical issues that can make it borderline unplayable. At least making it impossible to perform well while playing.

At this point it’d show change. 343 has proven we just get more of the same, if not worsening, the longer they are in charge.

This isnt about Infinite, this is about the halo brand.

Your conflating the flawed battlepass system with proper content releases. I too have a job, and have never finished a battlepass. Why? Because the game is starved for content.

Expecting product to be equal to or greater than the previous product is logical.

MCC had its issues at launch, but it also a bunch of games ductaped together. Its launch was a mess, but at least it got fixed, and because it had the content and gameplay of the OG games, once it got fixed, it was great.

343 said MCC was a learning experience and would improve.

You’re not remembering correctly. There was a loud group that did want the game delayed further when it became clear the game was lacking features that had been in the game since CE. This, after Staten told us the game was ‘content complete’.

You’re missing the point people want to just buy the game rather than be manipulated into being nickle and dimed. No one’s saying halo should be completely free. They’re saying halo should have an honest business model.

That and many of us also bought campaign for the price of a full AAA title. We did in fact, buy the game.

Translation:
I’m salty that people compare a good product with a unfinished one both with 343’s name on it

Funny how you’re adamant on defending a unfinished product so much that you forget that mcc is a game that infinite takes elements from but does them worse ie the progression, store and battlepasse

Halo mcc may have been broken at launch but with how it is now its amazing and there’s no excuse that they couldn’t just do the same thing when it comes to progression

Why ask for a leadership change? Because I would rather have a 5 year hiatus from Halo, and come back in 2027 with a new game, than continue down the path we’ve been on since Halo 4. That said, I’m very sorry to hear about Bonnie’s family problems and I wish her the best.

“If you released a free game. how would you make money from it?”

I would not release Halo as a f2p game. The focus on the multiplayer, which is free, and therefore focus on mtx, is diverting valuable resources from creating the campaign, weapons, etc.

I would rather pay $60 for a new campaign each year, the mtx don’t just bother me on principle, they bother me because the only new content that is coming out is cosmetics.

^This is exactly the issue. While the core of the game is great, nor do I think 343 should be “fired”, I just want the persistent desync that plagues the vast majority of my games to be rectified. I enjoy playing socially, but I primarily play ranked with friends and enjoy semi-competitive play (balance between social and competitive is nice). However, I can’t even begin to play a game like this competitively when am I am thwarted 60% of the time by desync. I understand some people don’t experience this to the same extent, but believe me there are more than enough of us that this ends up being game breaking for. If you want to play competitively and are unable to do so because of desync, the game is in fact broken for what we wish to experience. Btw, desync exists in social for me also of course, it just doesn’t matter like it does with ranked (although it’s still very annoying nonetheless).

Why?

They signed off on the TV that would be why.

My wife her first time with Halo was one month before infinite came out we played MCC got finished with halo 1-3 She fell in love, and she plays infinite daily. Even she can see the disrespect for the IP.

some people think it would be better to bring halo to a conclusion instead of let it continually get ruined by 343 or pass it off to a new studio

Thank you very much for this post. I’ve just had my game crash on me twice in the last hour and twenty minutes and this post is a nice friendly reminder to be patient and to enjoy the bumps along the way.

I look forward to the longevity of Halo Infinite and the experience of being able to play.

Thank you fellow Spartan,
Lazy

patience as content is pushed back many more months in addition to content being cut. over optimistic much

I wanted 343 off Halo or a management change. We got the management change, so I’m happy. Content is already taking forever to roll out, so what is any different if positive steps are taken in the meantime?

Hmmm, we can criticize all we want.

We are the fans, we are the consumers.

If you are okay with a mediocre product then go ahead, support mediocrity.

But I am not pleased with the game, neither the performance of the company.

Really more bashing on bashers is so unconstructive and waste of time.

I’ll be fine if Halo was laid to rest at this point. Better than seeing this corps be strung up like “weekend at bernies” by 343i.

Yeah i don’t care about that. I’d be fine with a 10 year season. This game has 3 million other issues atm.

I’ve been converted to this mindset, as have many other fans of Halo. I’d much rather celebrate the good times of Halo, rather than continually drag its name through the mud for the sake of ‘making another Halo game’.

Yeah, as much as i liked some of 343’s early stuff, the idea of chief just drifting off into space, having defeated the major enemies of the franchise, leaving the player up to imagine what adventures happened next, is a much better conclusion than the mess 343 keeps putting out.

This is how most of us feel, I think. What we’re seeing is a tactic change for the 343DF, they’re now trying to gaslight us, again.

I have seen ten times the comments repeating “You wanted to #fire343, and now you’re being a doomer about them leaving” compared to anyone expressing actual ambivalence to the leadership change. And as usual, it’s the same several lines on twitter reddit and here.

i dont think 343 needs to be fired, disbanded, or whatever, we need a good halo game by any means, weather that be delaying it another 3 years or completely scraping the game right now, we have mcc and 5 to fall back on, i mean jesus christ did they not see that game demo? usually games have a better looking demo than a final product. Now it looks better but this is the worst halo, much worse than 5 and i mean that in terms of story, gameplay, and graphics.

id rather buy a full priced complete game than a full priced fraction of game with a free multiplayer with barely any content and a scam of a shop. seriously look at all the crazy stuff they have in there, they put more time and money making the stupidest looking armor than giving us the real content this game needs. you know whats really bad about their cosmetics, the fact it can be a literal 1% difference on weather it’s free or in the shop and the price can range from like $3 for a stupid little weapon charm to $20 for full set of armor. maybe that does sound like a good deal, if it was real but considering we’ve had dozens of armor sets from 4 and 5 alone that we Had to Play and Earn for relatively no extra cost and a wide range of colors to customize our spartans completely free to “this” monstrosity!! Absolutely UnBelievable!!!

So, um. You need higher standards. I kind of see what you’re saying, but when it comes to something that has been given this amount of time and this budget, it should be better than “playable”, which it barely is for most people.

I still think that was partially 343’s fault. They took waaaay too long to make their game, so everyone was a bit annoyed, and then when they finally did bring it out, it was discovered that they had done… absolutely nothing? Interesting play.

It’s much more complicated than that, my simple-minded friend.

Halo 5 came out in October 2015.

Halo Infinite was supposed to come out Nov 2020, around 5 years after H5, but instead got delayed to Fall 2021 due to the game still being incomplete.

when it finally released it was / is incomplete and also a beta / early access, still is really.
they just don’t mention that anyway.

no campaign co-op of any sort
no forge
no mission replay
very small selection of mp maps at release
desync
countless bugs, glitches and other issues

just to put things in perspective, some movies get delayed and take ages to be shot and processed with things like re-shoots but are always complete when we see them in a cinema or direct to dvd etc.

they don’t put out a unfinished movies do they? that would be a workprint something you rarely get to see.

it’s not just 343 that have got into the habit of releasing unfinished buggy games. ubisoft, ea dice and other companies do it.

with the promise they will fix it all post release.

this should not happen. games should be finished and released in that state.

They always used to be. before we had games advertising PRE-ORDER TO GET ALPHA / BETA ACCESS!!! i mean who wants to play an alpha or beta ? it’s almost always multiplayer and whatever game it is, the performance sucks on the first release. it’s like there’s no QA anymore, they expect consumers to report all issues and then not fix anything because our bug reports seem to go nowhere.

since the early access thing came about, it’s basically an excuse to release a game early and then slowly add the stuff that should’ve been part of the game at release. they end up calling these “content drops” or give them seasonal names to make them seem like normal updates.

for infinite they chose to call them drop pods which so far have been tiny updates which fix a few issues here and there but break so much other stuff it’s just not worth playing the game till they’ve gone through the whole list of bugs and fixed all the stuff they broke too and god knows how long that’ll be.

it’s almost as if this year has been the second year the full game has been delayed and what we have is still in early access. it’s like waiting on ground branch or any other game in this state to be sloowwwlllyy brought up to the standard of a polished title.

I wish we could go back to the days when games released finished and on time.
