Each of you go look into a mirror and say to yourselves “I’m a beautiful -Yoink!- and there’s a Halo fan in New Zealand that loves the hell outta me.” To say I’m pleased and excited is an understatement. I am thrilled.
I heard about how significantly improved and cool Forge is looking so far but hadn’t taken a proper look at the videos, until now. Really great stuff. I have so many ideas. As a fan I feel energized. Keen to dive into it and learn the coding and familiarize myself with it so I can churn out content. Forge creations are going to be my gaming priority.
Two thumbs up. Keep up the excellent work, folks. Let’s gooooooo!!!
I’m sure the forge is going to be interesting, I’m just hoping they worked on the lighting issue forge has had in previous titles.
I like to take my time when creating maps and detail is very important to me. I was creating the map from the campaign of Halo Reach, Sword Base on Halo 5. Tbh the lighting was -Yoink!- me off because if was casing the colors to the blocks to change in a really bad way that some would turn pitch black and there was no way to fix it among other issues that I stop creating maps after my second one.
I never had this issue creating maps in Halo Reach and I spent years messing around with the forge world that that is where I spent most of my time.
When I sink my teeth into Forge flighting I’ll happily give a looooot of feedback. They seem to be doing the right things though so maybe it won’t be needed.
A few things off the top of my head:
Water. Like a body of water cube which you can shape and scale. Able to adjust everything like colour, level of cleanliness & clarity, surface properties such as waves or foam or bubbling or steam. The player should be able to transform water cubes into any form of liquid such as a pristine crystal lake, bubbling lava, frozen duck pond, rushing white rapids or a murky thick swamp.
Weather. Specifically believable rain which should range from drizzling to very heavy.
A variety of different usable seats/cockpits. I’m sure custom vehicles being created via attaching objects to existing vehicles will be doable - and that’ll be cool. But it’ll be ideal if we can create custom vehicles and contraptions from scratch so we can avoid clipping and being restricted to limited player positions.
All skyboxes from all previous Halo titles.
All past objects(Campaign included) from Halo 3 & Halo 3 ODST especially. Obviously at a higher fidelity.
Able to use Theater to create images, videos and gifs which can then be imported into Forge maps. To be used as custom framed wall art or computer screens for example.
Able to use a mic to create unique audio or voiceovers.
Able to spawn A.I. but also force players to spawn as covenant & Flood creatures as well as things like rats & Quadwings. This would open up new gameplay opportunities such as hunting trial gametypes. Here’s a simple example of a random new gametype I just thought of ‘Rat-King’, a variation of KotH, players can only kill each other outside of the hill, when in the hill attaining points you are helpless rats. Another example, a variation of Infection, ‘Plague’ human players have Energy Swords and spawn in a house, the other players are invading rats, humans get points by killing rats and rats get points by taking objectives(cheese) rats cannot attack but if they touch a human that human dies.
I will also! So lets see what happens when forge is released. But remember Forge won’t be worth the crap if we don’t have a Custom Game Browser and If the Custom Games Area does not get fixed!
I’m thoroughly impressed with what I’ve seen from Forge so far. As usual the Forge team is working wonders. I’m still holding out hope for forgable AI enemies and allies., but either way the work they’ve done is spectacular.
