Dear Bungie fanboys

I will probably get hated to a fine paste for this thread, but i thought it needed to be brought up.

I noticed a LOT of hate for games like Halo 4, MCC and Halo 5 and hell, even the entire cast of characters in Halo 5 just because they aren’t Bungie. (But of course Buck won’t get any hate because he’s pre-343)

Look, I’m not saying Halo 5 is flawless, since no game really is flawless. But it really doesn’t deserve hate just for being a 343 game. Also, did you know that the Halo 4 you hate so much has had quite some influence from Bungie directors?

And goddammit, give 343 a break with the Master Chief Collection. If it wasn’t for them, I would have never experienced the amazingness that is Halo 2 because there is simply no OG Xbox consoles here where I live.

but there is so many bugs in the game which 343 have not fixed.

Ever played Skyrim? Fallout 3? New Vegas? Maybe every other game out there? All games sadly have bugs.

And yes, I understand that they NEED to fix it, since people have been asking them to.

But these bugs are Major problems like
The lost connection issue
and the ban issuethey have been here since day 1 and 343 hasn’t bothered to fix them.

Do I really have a 343 Incompetencies fan boy with practically no play time in the good Halo games calling me a Bungie fan boy for not having low standards in a video game.

I have many reasons for not liking that piece of garbage and if you keep giving 343 Incompetencies so many chances after so many failures, it becomes an abusive Stockholm syndrome based relationship with failure and disappointment. 343 Incompetencies took a perfectly good franchise with a decade of history of rights and wrongs and managed to -Yoink- it up beyond recognition.

Those of us who liked Halo games wanted to continue to play great Halo games that built on and improved upon the last game. We don’t want some game that tries to be completely different from what was great while either blatantly and/or doing a poor job copying what other games are doing.
I would say 343i made their own game and slapped a Halo skin on it, but that would be giving them too much credit since the art style and sound design are -Yoinking!- terrible compared to Bungie’s games.

Also, what make you think those who hate the new “halo” game are Bungie fan boys? If I were one I would continue to be obsessed over Destiny, but after their business practices completely revealed themselves as well as their subpar management, I cannot continue to support them.

Don’t forget the infamous Retrieving Data bug.

Sound design is superior to any Bungie Halo game. The smg in Halo 2 sounds like it is making popcorn rather than firing bullets.

I think your problem is that you just hate 343 no matter what they do and just slap “343 sucks” on everything.

It’s not entirely hate because it’s a 343 game, it’s hate because of mistakes they have made. Also you can play halo 2 on an Xbox 360, and we can’t entirely blame 343 for mcc since mcc wasn’t even made by them.

Well, I can agree, sometimes people just tend to -Yoink- on 343 for no reason.
But let’s try to look to what they have done in Halo 5 in the most objective way possible.

The campaign. I personally didn’t like the campaign. I feel that they had a great potential after the build up of Halo 4, but they didn’t quite used it well. There are so many elements that can get interesting, but 343 failed to improve them thought the narrative. Even for some characters; the Master Chief - Locke thing could have been better: it’s just superficial. And I know this isn’t a 40 hour long RPG, but if you want to go in this direction, you can’t scratch only the top of the iceberg.

For the multiplayer, I was talking about it in another post. Warzone is a great gamemode, fun to play with friends. But is in Arena matches where the competitive of Halo shine: it has been proved through all these years, where a Halo game came out and fan continued to play it years after release, because is fun, strategic and requires that amount of training and dedication to get on the high levels. I felt rewarded. Now I feel like 343 is pumping too much Warzon, and Arena continues to be neglected over and over.

I’m not a bunjie fan boy but…
Halo 5 released without:
Split screen
Forge
Btb
A file share system
Post game carnage report
Campaign scoring
Party matching

The UI is uninformative and poorly layed out
The armour customisation is dimmed down and restricted
The game is locked behind a microtransaction wall
Btb has been neglected and has no dev maps
The game is almost 90GB
The campaign is poorly written
The characters are poorly developed and one dimensional

takes big breath

The campaign is repetitive (is it 10 copy paste warden fights?)
The campaign is grossly short

Firefight has been monetised and linked to the req system

The ban hammer is over the top
Partying with friends is often buggy
The game has numerous bugs

343 had extremely misleading advertising
“hunt the truth” - find out what it is in Mission 2-
‘chief vs locke’
“the campaign will be twice as long as halo 4”
"the campaign will be 8 to 12 hours long on normal 4 player coop (I finished in 8, solo on legendary)

The matchmaking in foreign countries is terrible.
Here in New Zealand I had waiting times of over 20 minutes for the popular playlists and can’t even play others - this was in December, just months after release

There is next to no social element to the game…

Look, that’s just a few things wrong with the game.

I’m no bunjie fan boy, but these problems are just fundamental beginner mistakes, that a developer who is in charge of xboxes main title should not be making
This game has seriously hurt my trust for 343

Just because they aren’t Bungie? Are you high? Have you played Halo 5?
Halo 4 was great from the standpoint of character development. Cortana was increasingly desperate, MC was trying his best to save his closest friend from an inescapable death and in the end she didn’t make it. Very emotional stuff for people that have been invested in Halo for years. Halo 5 brings her back for a cheap OMG plot twist and an undeserved cliffhanger ending. Those who bought the game have every right to be upset by the story of Halo 5, it has nothing to do with the company that made the game.

And MCC… well I didn’t play it from the beginning but there is plenty of empirical evidence the multiplayer was messed up from the start. The campaigns I enjoyed a lot, and I’d say MCC was worth buying just to play the single player.

You haven’t played Halo 3 or Halo 3: ODST and you’ve only put a small amount of time into Reach. I don’t think you can have the opinions you do considering you haven’t played much of Bungie’s Halo.

However, I agree with your point that Halo 5 isn’t as horrifically horrible as some people say. The campaign has some legitimately good moments and missions, although it is no where near the standard of previous Halo games, including Halo 4. H4 had one of my favourite campaigns actually.

I’ve been with Bungie since Halo 2.
I don’t know what you’re looking at, but the Halo Service Record on this website has me at 430 Games played and 4262 Kills/540 deaths with Halo 3, which is the one I played the most. Halo 5 I played under my roommate’s name since he owns an Xbox 1 and I don’t. I’m not here to lie or slander any company, I just want the truth to be out there

Skyrim-Massive open world, hundreds of things to do. Same with fallout.

Halo 5-Small campaign, less than half a traditional halos multiplayer at launch-Still has bugs, networking and server issues. Oh and “month of mythic” garbage. But sure, I’m “hating” because I point these things out. Oh and let’s not mention MCC,where everything except the Halo 2 remaster was already done by bungie, yet they managed to mess up porting those games. And release them knowingly broken. Am I still hating? Or is it not right for me to point such things out?

You ignore and dodge these flaws and try to justify them by comparing them to other games. But we are the “bungie fanboys” right? Even though we HEAVILY hit bungie on the forums back in the days of Halo reach. Even Halo 2. So no, Bungie is not some god to us as you lot assume. Finally, so what if other games have bugs? Halo used to try to set the standards, even set the bar higher. Now it seems this new generation of fans are perfectly happy with mediocrity.

OP, I hate to say it but uh.

Think your battleship got sunk here, man.

You forgot to mention that :
. The colours were so bad that they had to be fixed
. Classic modes like KOTH and Oddball are still not in the game
. Most updates aren’t tested so they launch buggy
. Grifball launched with only one map
. No playable elites
. Destroyed every plot point from halo 4
. Removed every military aspect of the game :

  • no blood
  • no bad language
  • marines look like they’re made of plastic
  • Spartans look like power rangers

I agree with about almost everything you said, but like I said in the beginning; the game doesn’t need to be hated because it wasn’t made by Bungie.

Your points are largely valid, and it only through feedback like this that 343 can actually improve. Giving them mindless hate (Which you did not do, thanks) isn’t going to help them improve.

Label yourself as a Bungie fanboy if you want to get triggered friend. I didn’t say Halo 5 is flawless. Read my post again.

Please stop. You have no argument. The only thing you do have is calling people “Bungie Fanboys”. You agreed with almost eveyrthing he pointed out, but you still called him a hater. -_-
