I apologize to the forum members in advance. This is for 343i and is not intended as a forum rant. It is however, a notice of discontent as a consumer. Since 343i fails to provide contact information for their company then I must post it here. This is strictly my opinion based off of my experience and reviewing like-minded forum reviews.
Halo 5 is a major disappointment. In a nutshell the entire experience feels like a Beta test with updates that aim to pacify instead of actually improve. The game certainly was not ready to be released. Game modes that are going to be implemented are still being tested. Matchmaking was beta tested from Dec. 2015-Jan. 2015 30 days after release.
Matchmaking is horrible. In this age of online gaming there is no excuse for global lobbies. Gamers spend a lot of money on high speed internet, modems, routers, cables, controllers, consoles, etc. only to have it made obsolete by international lobbies and high ping players. The gameplay experience is ruined by poor hit detection or registration, rubber banding and jittery opponents and server disconnects.
The “Ban-Hammer” is unjust. I understand both sides. However, there are times you penalize players for server side issues such as disconnects. What about power outages? You are telling me I can’t leave a video game to take an important phone call, accept a package at the door or take care of an infant that just woke up? How about uneven teams like 1 vs 4 or 2 vs 4? You hold us hostage and tell us we must suffer through miserable gameplay due to lag or team balancing. Often times when I try to leave a lobby it doesn’t due to some software glitch and I get penalized for that too!
U.I – Terrible. Have you event tried to maneuver around the scoreboard during gameplay? The pre-game lobby is pathetic, generic and uninformative. Give the players detailed lobby information prior to the game starting and the opportunity to leave. If I don’t like the map then I should be able to leave but you don’t give us that information prior to game start. How about gamer tags, rank and accurate connection strength for each player. If I had greater information prior to the game start I would be much less likely to quit once the game loading has started.
Lack of Communication – I’ve read more news on trips to Europe, your new office and Halo “Lore” than I have on Feedback to forum discussion or issues. Communicating your acknowledgement and some action plan would go a long way in appeasing your fan base. You ask us for feedback and give us very little.
Based on the state of your game and lack of improvements to-date I feel the “Ban Hammer” really is a slap in the face. It is poor judgement by 343i and by Microsoft Studios for condoning it. I will no longer play your game nor purchase future titles by 343i or Microsoft. After 10+ years with Xbox I have cancelled my Xbox Live auto renew and will move all of my gaming to Sony and PS4. I simply do not agree with the type of control you are trying to exude over your customers. Perhaps enhance your game, improve it and players will not want to leave.
I hope for the remaining player base that you get your act together sooner than later. Build a solid fan base by providing the best gaming experience you can, not by rushing a release while working on improvements with post release beta’s.

Hmm. I guess if multiple people are having the same issues, maybe 343 and the rest of the community that thinks this game is perfect should acknowledge said issues and, you know, fix them?

I understand that there are flaws with this game, and they definitely need to be addressed, but for goodness sake threads like this belong in a separate section.
Not trying to sound like an old guy here, but back then the forums had many more meaningful threads either with gameplay clips, funny links to halo videos, developer chats, etc. Every time I come to the Halo 5 section, there are at least three to five threads complaining about Halo 5.
It really just shows how the Halo community is crumbling into being exactly like the CoD community. The Halo 5 section is almost cancerous now.

We’d all like to see that kind of stuff, but as of now there are too many frustrated users and little being done on 343’s end for that to happen.

Or it just means the vast majority of people satisfied with the game are remaining silent, as opposed to the minority who are unsatisfied and continually rant on forums. Is H5 perfect? Absolutely not. But 343 also has to deal with a fanbase that will criticize everything they do. Do something to satisfy the fanbase that has been complaining and suddenly everyone hates it. Example, social slayer. They put it in for the weekend cause there were so many complaints, suddenly everyone hates social and wants it removed

That “vast majority” must have never played any of the classic Halos, because they seem to have no idea how badly they’re getting ripped off.
And the only complaints social slayer had were lack of JIP and sweaty players (of which there wouldn’t be as many trickling into social slayer if there were even a handful of good playlists to play).
