Dear 343i: Respect split screen people!

It seems that 343i doesn’t respect people playing local. Halo 4 had severe frame rate issues (some maps were literally unplayable) and these issues weren’t fixed (not even touched) for 2 years. Before MCC came out people were asking about split screen and frame rate… and 343i delivered the worst. Halo 4 is as bad as it was (even worse, as fluctuation is more prenounced with 60fps). Out of 6 Halo 2 Anniversary maps all have frame rate issues and one (Stonetown) is unplayable. In future there will be Forge maps - unplayable on split screen…

WHY? It’s like spit in the face. “Yeah, there’s 4 player split screen. It’s doesn’t work? -Yoink- you, we already have your money.”

If this kind of philosophy will carry on to Halo 5, then Halo, as online shooter, will die. Can you imagine Halo 3 population without split screen players after few years? It would be dead long time ago. Can you imagine new CoD without funtional split screen? Yeah, there was Titanfall without split screen - how many people plays it now?

Dear 343i please remember about split screen! If Halo 5 forge is about to be as broken as Halo 4 or Halo 2 Anniversary, please scrap it, ditch it and just do more maps that are actually playable. Releasing content with so many issues is embarrassing.

EDIT: It’s comfirmed that Halo 5 beta WILL NOT have split screen! It’s worse than I thought people. They’ll add untested, unpolished 2 player (yes, just 2!) split screen later, like they (probably) did with their past games…

EDIT 2: All signs on earth and heaven found their conclusion: NO SPLIT SCREEN IN HALO 5 CAMPAIGN! Game seems to be designed for 4 player coop, but at the same time most natural way of using this feature has been erased!

New, bad standards for the franchise has been set.

You basically put my exact thoughts into words. It’s sad because I love halo primarily for the split screen. And frankly, It’s like they don’t see it as being important. I mean, it’s the very foundation of halo! I live in a house with a lot (and I mean a lot of brothers), and we’re all just really disappointed with how poorly 343 has optimized their games for split screen. Frame rate to me is more important than shiny graphics and resolution. It seems like 343 I’d shunning local players with games they’ve released so far. Honestly though, couldn’t they at least give us an option to cap framerate at 30?

Split Screen is what got me into Halo

and In Split screen I will enjoy the game with my young cousins to get them introduced into the series.

I wouldn’t say that they disrespect splitscreen players, but I can say with absolute certainty that the fact that my splitscreen experience in Halo has consistently been in 15-20fps, even on the Xbox One, is unacceptable.

I agree with you. Halo is like the ONLY game left that you can play with friends local. Or play online with guests, etc.

But it’s always had maps and such that are really bad with split screen in like…all the old Halos. Halo 3 had some notorious maps that would destroy the frame rate playing split screen.
Hope that split screen is still in Halo 5 though. I hate that so few games allow guests…especially online.

I’m not some 343i hater (I really like Halo 4!), but let’s be honest in here: split screen people aren’t receiving kind of respect they deserve. Remember discussions of Halo 4 matchmaking? 343i was much faster to cater some niche population of Throwdown or Legendary, than even adressing issues experienced by people who play Halo on splitted screen - and those people aren’t any smaller % of population nowdays compared to few years back. Yes, some young players moved from their parents (and siblings), but those of us who are starting our own families won’t buy several consoles+games+tvs to be able to play with household members. Why do companies sold consoles with support of 4 controllers? Because no matter what, people are social creatures and local gaming isn’t going anywhere.

Ignoring issues experienced by fanbase (who paid for product) is biggest disrespect game developer can make. Making us to accept these 15-20 fps (however there are parts in game where it’s even worse) and pretending that there’s no problem is disrespectful to us. Even when 343i fixes MCC matchmaking, it still will be partial-unplayble for some of us, and 343i, just like they did in the past, is saying nothing about fixing things. This awful trend cannot carry on to Halo 5.

Split screen was bad in halo 4, i had to leave so many games because the lag was crazy on forge maps. i was hoping they fixed it on the Xbox One but i haven’t got to try it out because i’m waiting for them to fix the collection before i play. I hope in the future games they fix the split creen issues.

-Yoink-, I mean just -Yoink- -Yoink- -Yoink-.

They don’t even see the point of beta-testing split screen! They’ll only (maybe) add 2 player split screen in final game. I’m sure it’ll work great with forge and -Yoink-…

Halo 3 and Reach Betas, Splitscreen?

I would gladly Have Halo 4 level graphics for the rest of the Halos on Xbox One if it meant we could have 4 Player split screen.

And I don’t even use the feature. Halo has always been split screen. I was disappointed enough Spartan Assault wasn’t full co-op.

My nephews (who by the way, I’ve bought MCC for this xmas, hope it works by then) Would play split screen. They always come round mine, and whether it’s MInecraft or Halo. I stick them on the spare xbox while I play on mine. Having Halo gaming fests once again in my gamesroom is a goal of mine for MCC and Halo 5. If “little” problems like this aren’t fixed then it is just ruining Halo’s social roots.

I was introduced to halo by split screen.
When I was in 3rd grade I was at my cousins house, there were 3 of them, and they let me play 4 player split screen with them. I sucked really bad, but I remember having sooo much fun with the needler. Then my friend got an xbox 360 elite bundle with halo 3 odst and forza. I went to his house and we played halo 3 split screen at his house.(there were 3 of us, me, my friend, and his brother.) It was after I played halo for the 2nd time that I knew I had to get it. So I got it. Despite each of us having our xbox’s, me and my friends still love getting together at one house and playing 4 player split screen online. 343 don’t take away this awesome feature.

I’m devastated right now.

I dont know what game developers have against people being able to play with the people sitting right next to them but this is completely unacceptable.

Its just a beta guys jeez I’m sure split screen will be in the full game

It’s not “just a beta”. It’s a beta test, where we won’t be able to test feature, that’s most important for some of us.

It’s already said that there will be 2 player split screen added in final game, but:

  1. It’s just 2 players, when some of us (myself included) already bought several pads and 60" TV to be able to share the game with our (growing) families.

  2. They’ll add it in last minute, which means it will be untestested, unpolished, unplayable mess 343i is known for.

In the name of split screen, I bump this thread!

No but really though? Why must you -Yoink- on us, 343?

Split screen support and optimization MUST be a top priority. I WILL NOT purchase any future releases without such features. It’s what got me into Halo originally (the fun of playing with friends) and it continues to be a wonderful activity when friends come over. Not everyone wants an Xbox so make it easier to share with people!

It is a year until the game is released -.-

343 you money whores, doing this kind of stupid stuff so more people can buy an xbox one. 343 of all the things that you could get ur useless hands on why halo? Why r u ruining one of the greatest franchises ever? I dare u to prove me wrong.

If Halo 5 doesn’t have splitscreen, I straight up won’t buy it. A shooter without splitscreen is worthless.

Watch your tone people… some of the posts in here are insulting!

All disappointment aside - this is a general trend in videogames not something 343i invented.
I hope that they get 2 player splitscreen right for the final game, not freaking out because of a beta that is still very rough performance wise as it is.
