Maybe there is some other OP that you are reading that I didn’t see.
This literally says to stop communicating with us and just fix it. I disagree with that 100%.
Obviously I’m talking about the blog post/communication, not a game update.

One thing they mentioned that I agreed with was that Sprint makes it worse. There’s a fix in there somewhere

No, it asks them to stop making excuses and offering explanations for their incompetence.
I don’t want to read lengthy blog posts that don’t actually address problems. And you are kidding yourself if you think this post addresses the problems with this game’s netcode.
Again… the foundations of their whole house are crooked and they are posting about fixing drywall cracks. That’s not meaningful communication. That’s gaslighting.
The entire problem is you are stuck in this “one or the other” mindset.
Which makes no sense.
Clearly both are happening. The fact you hyper focus on the blog post as if it is their fix is the problem.
If you don’t want to read the blog post don’t. Nobody is twisting your arm to do so.
Just want the changes? Read the patch notes/updates.
Read my above post.

I saw no excuses being made. I saw an attempt to 1) clearly define the problem, 2) explain how their system currently handles the problem, and 3) their immediate and future plans to improve their system.
You can say their current system sucks, and their plan are ineffective, I don’t have a problem with that. As I said before, this is actually opening themselves up for even more and valid criticism by giving us a better understanding of how their systems are designed. I would much rather that than some tweet saying “we hear your feedback and we’re doing everything we can to fix the issues as quickly as possible.”
Latency and desync issues are foundational issues. A “drywall crack” would be something like a misaligned cosmetic.
Every multiplayer I have played over the last 35 years have all been ping sensitive. Even though internet bandwidth is better more video streaming is hogging bandwidth.
More fiber is needed all over the planet. The existing patchwork does not work well for action shooters.
Except this isn’t actually the problem and if it is, it is a minor part.
The problem is one of their own invention because their system doesn’t actually handle the problem. The problem was dealt with better in their older games and they tried to reinvent the wheel with this game causing problems that weren’t there before.
These “plans” are things that should have already been done.
This “communication” is basically a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
Of the games I played last night, I saw 30 ping in Every 4v4 and 60 ping in every 12v12, which was more consistent than it had been. Previously I had a pretty even distribution of 30, 60, and 90 ping games.
Hopefully it’s a trend I keep seeing. My games felt pretty nice last night.
I’m growing weary of this conversation.
What would be your ideal form and depth of communication from 343?
I think the problem is that the netcode that this game is built on is messed up. There are plenty of things going on in this game that are not explained by ping, which seems to be where all their focus is right now. But that doesn’t explain why games played at 15 ping play worse than games played at 80 ping.
There is something else majorly wrong. I don’t care if they try to explain it to me. It probably isn’t worth it. It’s probably more complicated than the latency issues they explained in their post which people are praising them over how well they explained something so complicated. Except that what they explained is basic latency… Not complicated to explain.
Maybe they are trying to fix all the other bugs in the netcode that are causing all the other issues. But 343’s history doesn’t give me much hope that anything will be fixed in less than 3 years. I would love to be surprised. But I’m not holding my breath.
Every Halo release has had launch issues. Melee registration, grenade damage issues, rubber banding, etc.
Sure, Halo Infinite’s desync is notably bad when it does occured, but it’s silly to compare it to other games that have had years to sort this out.
I mean I can’t think of a single FPS game that didn’t get major server/netcode changes over the first few months/years of release. So I just don’t get such hostility in this single case, when the game runs perfectly fine the vast majority of the time.
Especially over something as petty as how communication is occurring.
Instead of blaming it on people geofiltering because they designed their matchmaking system so poorly. Instead of focusing the issue on ping.
I would have been fine with them just saying something like:
We know there are issues with the netcode. We’re definitely looking at it and inserting more tools to help us track down where the bugs are faster. We are also adding region selection for servers but until then, we do need to stop the geofiltering so we can make sure that the problems we are seeing aren’t being caused by that. We appreciate your patience.
Your summation is literally the TL:DR of their update.
And geofiltering is causing issues. It’s why it was disabled. As their blog points out, disabling geo-filtering is just a quick and obvious change to help improve general player connection while they sort it out.
Like what are you suggesting? They should just keep allowing geoflitering, and continue to let that negatively impact the player experience of people that aren’t geo filtering?
It just seems like a completely sensible short term improvement.
Jesus this community is such trash now.
The ignorance in this thread is laughable.
I mean, that’s every forum thread on the internet isn’t it? ![]()
splitgate, dead by daylight, left for dead 2, cod warzone rumble, battlefront 2, mordau, destiny 2, planetside 2. literally barely or never had any technical issues with any of em
I actually appreciated the transparency and honesty of the post and the current issues their team face.
Yes, we all obviously agree they need to get on and fix it, but why complain about them explaining the issue…?
I’d rather not go back to a few weeks ago when it seemed like they hardly even acknowledged these forums existed.
Playing today and seeing absolutely no difference. Even with ping at 35, which is as low as I ever get… Shots/melees don’t register, grenades disappear, and rubber banding actually seems to be worse.
So no, I don’t believe 343 when they say that people geofiltering causing high ping games are the problem.
