Thanks for destroying Halo for me I really appreciate it! I hope its feels good to be a sell out and making a COD clone! Thanks for pretty much abandoning the hardcore players! Some helpful tips on making the game better are…
-completely take out ordinance drops
-show the CSR on the player card
-Take out insta spawns
-Fix the Lag
If anyone else has any other ideals list below!
My solution is to leave Halo. The GDC video proves that 343i will be pushing Halo to be more CoD-like and made to be easier for people by handing them power weapons and crap. It’s sad to say, but it’s true. 343i/Microsoft don’t care about Halo’s roots, they just want to make money; and if that means selling ot Halo’s core mechanics to CoD, then by God they’ll do it.
I dont believe that really reflects how there going to go at it in the future titles though. We should still wait and see once actule gameplay and reviews from people we trust and know Halo comes out. Just up and quitting is kind of stupid especially when its a newly formed company. They got a series and wanted to put there own spin on it. They didn’t fail in sales but they did fail the fans. they know it and they hear it. It’s all going to come down to Halo 5 where they make or break it with the fan-base that got them those high sales…
The one question 343 and people who think halo 4 is going in the right direction is how is Halo 4 any different from COD?
Instant respawns- cod
Sprint-cod
Ordnances-cod
loadouts-cod
perks-cod
de-emphasis on grenades, melee and vehicular combat- cod
power weapons no longer influential- cod
I think what the above shows is that more or less all the changes to multiplayer have been geared towards the cod player. I understand why, COD is the biggest gaming franchise, dwarfing any other franchise in terms of revenue and everyone is copying them not just halo. Can anyone name a fps multiplayer shooter that is actually substantially different from COD?
What i dont understand it why cant proper halo(as in halo ce/2/3) be different to cod. The best why i can put it is relating it to the music industry. Justin bieber and one direction have a huge following but not everyone makes that type of music. bands like the kilers, mumford and sons, alt-j and crystal castles all co-exist together.
Personally feel that Halo 3 was the best and i wish it went back to it.
below ive listed some common arguments against halo 3 style
-
its outdated and no one wants to play that style- well no, its 5/6 years old but its not outdated rather its style is classic and no one can make that assumption. Halo 3 sold brilliantly but after that halo changed and went down the cod route and still sold well for dubious reason i wont go into. my point is we dont know if a evolution of halo 3 would of sold well or not.
-
halo 4 has sold more- well actually no, halo 3 has 3 million more sold if the figures i saw were correct. And yes i do understand that halo 3 has been out longer and all the other factor (i study economics) but must also remember that halo 4 came out to a install base many millions bigger than halo 3 but failed to sell more in its first week i believe than halo 3. Also no. sold does not equal success. Factors like longevity matter and out of those 8 million who remains? personally i havent seen it reach 100,000 as of late. i remember halo 3 had 100,000+ even after 4 months.
-
AA’s and armour mods are the future- but why? i personally dont believe they belong in multiplayer because they distorts the formula and feel of halo
those are my personal thoughts and arguments.
If people disagree please give me your counter argument and i in turn will give you mine
Very much doubt 343 would admit they took the wrong approach but i seriously think they need to look at the core halo player who stayed with halo 3 for years and years and ask why?
I laugh and fail to take anyone seriously who calls this game a CoD clone.
> I laugh and fail to take anyone seriously who calls this game a CoD clone.
Why? It pretty much was made to go into that direction. The GDC video and Frankie’s comments pre-launch about Bl Ops 2 and Halo 4 pretty much indicate that that is what 343i wanted to do: they wanted to draw in the CoD crowd, and so they made the game easier and introduced features from CoD into Halo in order to do that. It gained them some new fans, but it alienated a lot of the hardcore Halo fans and the new players pretty much just went back to CoD.

and your argument is…?

-completely take out ordinance drops That would fix a lot of things hands down but at the same time it seems like a waste of an idea that if done right could be implemented to work i conjunction with AA’s another thing that was scorned and is now seemingly liked save for the ones that were previously equipment pickups and jetpack/promethean vision.
Going back to equal starts AR/magnum/frags and putting Ordinance drops as nothing more than AA distributors would not only fix the issues with Power weapons coming down but also fixes vehicle combat and pushes the team to actually go for the weapons on map. There’s also the idea of having ordinance basically take the information from your selected primary, grenade, and AA to make your own custom ordinance drop. this also fixes whats stated above and adds more customization to the combat and gets rid of randomness.
-show the CSR on the player card
I agree with this
-Take out insta spawns
I agree there not needed unless in customs maybe.
-Fix the Lag
I don’t lag much there are times but yea I agree especially for those not in America.
I would like the add the idea of :
Getting rid of the 12 playlist thing.
More communication and responsiveness with what the community wants.
Oh yeah a few more thing I would like for them to change
-remove jet pack from the game
-bring power ups like damage boost invis over shield and place them on the map so there’s more emphasis on map control
-Bring back timed weapon spawns to the map…

I guess you never played REACH.
REACH started the COD clone, which was made by Bungie.
Halo 4 is REACH improved in my opinion.
But I do agree with you that Halo 4 is still far behind Halo 3.

COD mechanics = Mechanics that COD stole from other games.
I agree while I still don’t get the COD feel when playing there are a lot of elements that resembles COD’s. I have not idea why they strayed so far away from the original formula. It’s like taking Over KFC and deciding to sell burgers and -Yoink- YOU DONT DO THAT!!!

i understand that cod mechanics are not their own ideas but theres no denying that they popularised it.
I think they strayed from it THE halo formula is to tap into the half a billion dollars on launch weekend cod market. People obviously like cods style so they thought it might be smart do be like cod and hope more people play halo and then stay and buy more dlc. Its just a money making plan which is understandable, microsoft an 343 are businesses.

Very wise and I agree.
I hope Halo 5 is more like Halo 3 than Halo 4.
You can still have all the AA, but they return as Equipment.
The best thing about Equipment is that it was 1 use, and if used wisely or poorly could turn the tide of battle.
Example of Wise and Poor uses of the Bubble Shield:
Wisely: Placing a bubble shield just in time to shield you and your team mates from a rocket.
Poorly: Placing a bubble shield in front of a team mate that fires a rocket and kill all team mates from the rocket.
In Halo REACH and Halo 4, because AA is on a constant timer and can be used infinity, there is no consequence if you make a mistake. Because if you survive and you can use it again in 10 seconds.
