Dear 343 Studios... make Halo 4 3D!!!

I heard that they have no plans to make Halo 4 3D compatible. Now just today I got a chance to play Halo Anniversary Edition in 3D for the first time… there’s no going back. It’s so sick, I spent half the time checking out scenery rather than playing the game. Even those of you that don’t like 3D movies, trust me… once you’ve played games, especially Halo, in 3D… you will never want to go back to regular gaming again. If they leave this feature out of Halo 4, I can’t describe what a injustice that would be to the experience. Please reconsider 343… even if you gotta scale down the models or textures a little, it will be worth it. Make it happen!

Not to be rude, but could you source where you read/heard that Halo 4’s confirmed to not be 3D compatible? Just curious, thought I might’ve have missed it.

However, to my knowledge, 3D compatibility in Halo 4 has yet to be confirmed nor denied. With Anniversary having 3D support, one would have to assume that Halo 4 will likely follow suit (the same trend has been confirmed for Kinect functionality as well).

When did 343 say it wasn’t gonna be 3D compatible?
I actually wanna try 3D now, I thought it would look stupid…

“We are not supporting 3D TVs or Kinect for Halo 4,” said (Frank) O’Connor.

I forgot where it was printed first, I think it was GameInformer maybe. Anyway I remember reading it from the source, it’s true unless they’ve changed their mind…

I agree not many people own one (I don’t, I dragged my 360 to my in-laws to try it). But if gamers knew, and I didn’t before today… there would be a lot more 3D TVs being purchased, even at the high price. I probably can’t afford one myself before Halo 4 comes out, but if I knew it was going to have 3D support I’d probably buy one just for Halo 4.

It’s been confirmed that halo 4 will not have 3D in it. CEA only had it because a unique opportunity arose from the way the game was being remastered.

At first, I was aggravated to hear that Halo 4 will not support 3D. There is always a logical explanation for everything. My guess is that Halo 4 will push the 360 to its limits graphically. Many 3D formats operate in a dual 1080p format meaning that there 2 1080p images broadcast at the same time overlaping the screen giving you the depth and pop out. In order for Halo 4 to utilize 3D, it would almost have to be created in 720p as not to overload the 360. I have a feeling this is why Halo 4 will not be in 3D. Makes sense when you think about it.

I don’t think there is enough power in the Xbox. I’m pretty sure the game runs at 30fps and to make it 3d you have to double that. They did it in anniversary because they were able to.

No no no no no no no.

3d technology isn’t where it needs to be to work in a great game series! Honestly, I hate 3d tech trying to butt its way into modern gaming/cinematics- we just aren’t where we need to be technologically for it to be as effective as people like to glorify it.

I have yet to see one good example of a 3d movie or game that actually impressed me.

Underworld Awakening was good in 3D, so was Avatar.
Oh, and Titanic. Especially that.
But that’s my take

Well I’m going to be flippant and say that making Halo 4 a 3D game is a given. Super Mario 64 really helped pioneer 3D console gaming and shooters have been playing around with the extra plane of movement before that. Whether or not to make Halo 4 stereoscopic is another matter.

I have to agree ^
Maybe in the next console, Halo 5 or 6 might be in 3D.

On the new console.

Not now.

Not when I don’t have a 3d TV.

i have to agree to both of these people. Halo with 3d would be cool, but it would crash the xbox making your 100 dollars or 60 dollars become trash.

I don’t remember reading anywhere with 343 saying it’s not.

Anniversary was in 3D with ease.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Look… 3D gaming is the future, once you’ve experienced the vast landscapes of Halo in 3D you will never want to go back to 2D gaming. But I get it… most people don’t own a 3D TV, myself included.

Just realize we’re all (well most of us) are missing out, once you’ve played an intense game like Halo in stereoscopic 3D you will be sold. Halo 4 should do it. They can always compromise like for example 60 fps for 2D, 30 fps for 3D, keep it simple so gamers get the best of both worlds.

yes, but they did not push ANniversary to the xbox’s limits like they are doing to HAlo 4

How much memory did Anniversary require? A 10 year old game engine doesn’t really need much at all, and then the graphics engine probably didn’t take to much either.

Halo 4 is already pushing the X360 to it’s limits according to 343i. That’s without 3D.
