As someone who has played Halo for customs and campaign in the past (only recently have I heavily got into multiplayer as a whole) I cannot stress enough how important it is that a browser comes alongside Forge in S3.
Joining custom games without a browser has always been a pain and made it something that people couldn’t enjoy on a regular basis especially now with population being so low. Many of us just don’t have the large friend groups required to do it or are a part of discord communities who organise some occasionally. We need the ability to find games and players more easily.
343 have historically always treated a custom games browser as an afterthought with it coming pretty much a year after H5 forge and was one of the last things to be added to MCC. It’s a shame something so important for many isn’t given more priority by 343.
The game currently is in desperate need for content so needlessly hiding away fan created content is just a waste and benefits no one. Without one I also doubt many casuals would even be aware or prepared to go through the effort of playing custom games.
Obviously we don’t know if we will get a custom games browser or not at this point as we have had no confirmation. Knowing 343 however my expectations for them are very low and they will probably be looking to cut corners wherever they can.
Why not get things right the first time for once 343?
I guarantee you it won’t come when forge is released. 343 treats a custom browser as if it’s the hardest thing to add, but even indie devs are able to add server browsers
I agree, while simply having forge available will be a huge deal once it is finished, launching it without a customs browser would be a missed opportunity.
My personal view of 343 they don’t care for there community. They are more than willing to come out with bad content and then fix it in the future to make it look like they care but in reality they don’t. Then what makes things worse is they lie to much to their own community.
For example 343 basically change every standard weapon in Halo 5 except for the Magnum. Then they came out with news that there will be nerf for the Magnum so it’s not op anymore after the HCS Tournament. That ended and they released a update saying we are done with updates for Halo 5 and we are putting our focus back on MCC and Infinite. That’s the kind of company 343 is they care about making a basic Halo game and nothing more. To this very day Halo 5 Magnum is still OP and everything works just fine for Arena Matchmaking but as soon as you play anything social the bugs and crashes pops up.
Custom Games are no different like most of the time the server crashes or the game freezes for Custom Games. Its like 343 is telling you your having to much fun in custom games so were going to crash your game until you play more Arena Matchmaking. That’s literally toxic to the max. You can’t have fun unless your being sweat in Matchmaking.
It’d be nice to get back. Was a staple in most PC games when gamespy did server lists for Quake. I forget which game was the first to put in the first in-game browser…
