Dear 343, Just a few points.

Just a few questions/points for you to consider about CSR.

If you care enough to spend real life money buying a halo account, or haxx your xbox for cheap kills your gonna do it whether its visible in game or if you have to send people your waypoint stats.

Also, I do not understand why you, 343, are letting a small minority of haxxorz and boosters bully them into not putting an in game rank into their own game, something which I gather roughly 99% of the community wants.

In the first months of Halo 4, a bunch of prizes were offered up for “competing” online. Surely a friggen’ truck was more likely to encourage cheaters than a number next to their name.

Also, as I understand, CSR goes up and down depending on doing well in the game. Anybody who has bought an account and has level 50 in all playlists, is either going to never play on it, thereby causing no harm to other player’s “match quality”. Or is going to play, and get absolutely raped into oblivion by legitimate 50s. If they continue to play, they will eventually end up the CSR they belong.

On top of all this, nobody cares about cheaters or their “way cool stats”, and its normally easy to spot a haxxed profile a mile off. This small minority exists in every game ever, heck i once got haxxed playing Pokemon Yellow with a transfer cable. Pokemon never had an in game multiplayer ranking.

They don’t hide the world record for weightlifting in case it encourages people to take steroids.

Now, I don’t hate you 343, or think Halo 4 is dad. In fact if you get a chance to read this Id like to applaud you on a good game. The campaign is immaculate, truly worthy of the Halo name, I like the art style, the animations, the AI is flawless - except those banshees guys, I refuse to believe they were tested, like at all - and the new guns and enemies are fun to play with and a welome addition to Halo.

However I agree with nearly every Halo fan that exists on the internet that; sprint, and PODs, and AAs, and lack of competitive settings, and boltshot, and poor weapon balancing, and instant respawn, and lack of campaign scoring and theater, and JIP, and lack of classic halo style maps, and vehicles made of fiberglass, and gimmicky loadouts and unlocks, and lack of firefight, are all steps in completely the wrong direction, but thats getting off topic.

As a die hard halo fan, in sickness and in health. I would greatly appreciate a response to my aforementioned points. I am in no way trying to tell you how to do your job or what to do with Halo. I probably speak for a lot of us when I say I just want to understand so I can get back on your side again.

Thanks for your time.

are you sure?

To reiterate, both of 343i’s reasons for not putting CSR in-game have been addressed by the community.

People suggested a number of things to stop boosting and account selling, but my favorite is the idea of Rank Decay: Basically after a certain amount of inactivity, your rank will begin to decrease.

There where a lot of suggestions to get around the UI limitation problem as well. Str8 theoryyy proposed a very reasonable solution to the UI limitation which actually prompted to BS Angel to ask the devs if it was possible. Their answer was that it was possible, but would take a lot of work.

So, with the population starting to drop below 30K, the question we have to ask 343i is, why not? Why not put forth the effort to make CSR in-game? What have you got to lose, 343i?
