Since basically everything for Halo:CE Anniversary is done like weps, particles, and textures, why not add those anniversary graphics for Halo:CE anniversary for multiplayer in the Xbox One?
All 343 needs to do is just texture the original maps. Why not update Halo:CE Anniversary multiplayer with anniversary graphics?
Please give Halo:CE some love. I’m pretty sure a lot of original Halo fans would like it and enjoy it. Plus, redeem your selves for not doing for the Xbox 360 version.
Halo CE is soon to have been released on every Xbox to date:
-
Halo CE launched the original Xbox and revolutionized console first person shooters.
-
Halo CEA was released on the Xbox 360 with a complete graphical makeover; setting the standard for HD remakes.
-
Halo CEA is coming to the Xbox One, only this time along with its the original Halo CE multiplayer which is playable over Xbox LIVE for the first time ever.
So don’t tell me Halo CE hasn’t gotten any love. Name one other game to be released and re-released over 3 console generations, each time bringing something new to the table? That’s love right there.
Now, you’re going to play on those old multiplayer graphics like we did back in the day and you’re going to like it, mister! You hear me!
lol. remastered maps would be pretty nice, actually
I’m just Grateful official support for Halo Combat Evolved is provided. Graphics can take the passenger seat in that case.

They have nothing to redeem for not doing a 360 version, the 360 simply cannot handle it and the effort required to make it compatable is far too much. It’s better off left only on the XB1 so they can focus on one high quality version rather than working on two lower quality versions at once.
There is far more to do than just “texture the original maps” to give them the anniversary treatment. They also need to be completely remodeled from the ground up which take a large amount of work. Texturing alone takes a large amount of work too, so even if it was the only thing to do it wouldn’t be so easy. Then they would have to go and do shadering for every part of every level as well as lightmaps which is no quick or simple task. All this would have to be done to every CE map, and there’s a fair amount of them to do.
Even if they did upgrade every CE map, this could create an uneven playing field. For example, say one person plays on original graphics and another plays on the updated graphics. The person on updated graphics would risk having inaccurate shots because the new graphics don’t always match the hit boxes of characters, objects and the level itself. The person on original graphics may have a disadvantage in darker areas because the lighting is very different between old and new versions. These among many other issues…
As much as remastered CE MP and a 360 version would be cool, it’s too much work and doesn’t come without many problems.
Like all original Halo fans i enjoyed when they announced the MCC, I can tell you that I’m super excited for that. It’s not that i don’t mind the original graphics, heck I’ve probably played more than 500 hours on Halo:CE for the original Xbox. Since they have most of the textures updated, why not just add them you know?

It’s not as simple as just “adding the textures”. Not sure if you read my previous post as there wasn’t much time between us, but I explained it there. Also, they don’t have textures for the levels themselves - only for the characters, weapons and vehicles. Doing texturing for every level wouldn’t be easy.

Yes, i know that adding new textures and remodeling every map can be quite time consuming(I use to make decent textures for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind for my personal use). Though graphics and textures do not affect hitboxes at all, they are dependent on the model (i think?).

Yes, they don’t affect hitboxes - that’s the issue. You may notice in some campaign levels in new graphics the hitboxes of the level may feel slightly off, then you switch to old graphics and then you can see it’s because the hitboxes are in line with the old graphics not the new ones. This isn’t too bad in characters, vehicles and weapons but in parts of the level it can be very different.
Please no. Saber did an awful job at matching model geometries. Please don’t touch the multiplayer.

It’s been a while since i played Halo:CE Anniversary so i can’t compare to switching between old and new graphics. If they do by a miracle add enhanced graphics to multiplayer, I’m pretty we won’t the ability to switch between old and new. Halo 2 will have separate playlist with one having the original graphics and the other one with enhanced graphics.
I’m pretty sure they can just have on playlist for CE with anniversary graphics.
I could ho for either side.I honestly don’t care what happens
If it doesn’t happen though, I’m Still extremely happy that there’s going to be Halo:CE multiplayer. They can always release as an update later on, not sure if possible, but i really want this to happen.
