Dear 343, Halo 5 and 6. What we need to have.

Hello fellow forum people!
So, I made a “Dear 343” post before about Halo 6 and what it needs.
Old post
So that post was good, but I later made another post about customs, forge and theater.
So I thought I’d make a full list.
Of everything we need in Halo 6.
Before anyone says anything like: “343 don’t need to start thinking about Halo 6 already”.
Do you want a lack of content like Halo 5 again?
Or the bugs of MCC again?
I think they should start working on it already…
So, let us begin!

Story
So Halo has a rich lore.
But then there’s Halo 5’s story…
It starts out really strong.
But, Osiris is just there with no way to introduce them.
And…Blue Team is back? So I am aware reading Halo: Escalation (comic) explains a large amount of this.
But shouldn’t something be in game?
We also have a lack of character development…
And some of those who are well developed, are killed off instantly.
I mean, in the first mission of the game we kill Jul M’dama in…10 seconds.
Despite the fact it took 50 missions to develop him (Spartan Ops from Halo 4).
So, a ton of time to develop the character…then he’s gone?
Let’s look at other characters: Thorne. He vanished. No where in Halo 5.
He was meant to be. Then Locke and Buck happened.
So yeah, character development. Also, we need more Chief and more “proper” missions.
If you recall, 3 of the 15 missions in the game were “exploration” missions. They were boring, lasted about 10 seconds.
So if we exclude them…we have 12 missions.
3 of which, are Chief. So…25% of the game is Chief? Is that it?
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing 6 Chief missions and 6 Locke missions in the next game. Some of which would be Osiris/Blue Team.
Some, only Locke or Chief.

Social Playlists
Ok, so we are getting them.
But, be honest, we should have had them on launch.
Personally, I think after you select “Arena” from the main menu, you should be taken to a screen like Warzone’s.
Select “Ranked” or “Social”.
From there, you get playlists you can play. (See what these playlists would be at the bottom of the post)
Anything we would have in ranked, would also be in social.
There would also be things only in social.
Let’s not forget missing playlists.
Grifball and infection…where are they…still.

Forge
We should have had it on launch.
Also, we should have 2 modes for forge. “Basic” and “Advanced”.
This would ease the learning curve.
Advanced would be what we currently have.
Basic would be Halo Reach / Halo 4 style.
Personally, I used to mess around, grab some pre-made structures and some weapons. Then play.
Sure, the maps were terrible…but they only took 30 mins to throw together.
The current forge takes like…5 hours.
Another thing. Pre-made structures. I have heard we are getting them, but why didn’t we have them.

Custom Games (Traits and Online)
What happened to some of them?
The “leader” traits?
Why don’t we have it back?
Smaller thing, but we should have it.
Also, why online only? Can’t we choose / make customs and forge run Peer to Peer?..or Offline?
The Online barrier is dumb. And if it ran Peer to Peer, you could play them even when the servers are down.

The REQ System Vs. Ranked Unlocks
So, I like the REQ system.
But, that is because I play a lot of Warzone.
The REQ system is great for Warzone.
RNG is Warzone is fine.
But, I believe we should have armor and visors unlock through SR ranks.
Or, through a credit system. Just like in Halo 4 (minus the specializations) and Halo Reach.
It was better than RNG…
“Ooo I want thing armor…oh…it’s Legendary”
Have fun grinding!
It works well on paper…but not when it’s tested.
Keep it for warzone…not for armor and stuff.

Customization!
We are losing it.
Halo Reach and Halo 4 was, IMO, the best.
Why? Customizing how you look.
In Halo 4 you could edit: Shoulders (left and right), Legs (left and right), helmet, chest and visor.
In Halo Reach, you could edit the same, along with some extra stuff…like…knees and bits on your legs…
Also a robot arm. That was cool.
But anyway, MCC has…horrible customization.
Sorry, it’s true.
You pick Elite or Spartan (if there!)
Then 1 of…3 to 10 options.
There’s hardly anything to pick from.
We need more options. Give us Halo 4 style armor customization.

Splitscreen (I won’t rant too much)
So “Splitscreen is an essential part of Halo”
It isn’t. However, it is important to many.
I am aware that due to console limitations, splitscreen didn’t work at 60fps. So it was scrapped.
So…why didn’t they make Splitscreen just run at 30fps?
I am aware that 30fps can look choppy.
But, I’d rather have 30fps than nothing.
Wouldn’t you?
So even if they can’t have it running 1080p60fps.
Make it run lower resolution and lower framerate.

Achievement Rewards?
So, achievements in Halo 5.
They were easy. I got them all with just some help from waypoint on co-op missions.
But you don’t get anything.
Sure, you can use skulls in campaign.
But that’s it?
No special armor?
No REQ packs?
We should get something
(Side note, Emile’s helmet from Halo Reach would have been AWESOME for collecting all skulls…)

Warden Eternal
Please, PLEASE…stop it.
343, you know we hate him.
In Halo 6, have him gone, or only appear once or twice.
You fight him once, he’s gone.
You fight him again, he’s gone.
Fight him AGAIN…he’s…oh wait no he comes back a second later…twice…
Then you fight him again…THREE TIMES at once…
Stop.
You also added him to Warzone.
Then in Battle of Noctus you added him too…twice…
Please stop it. Add more bosses, add huge fights to campaign
(Side note: Imagen if one of the Warzone bosses was a covenant battle group? Like…a few phantoms land dropping off elite, jackals and grunts? And then if you killed them all, a commander appeared too for the VPs?)

Noob Friendly-ness (Melee)
Hear me out!
Just listen.
Before you say “it isn’t noob friendly”

343…what is THAT? Get rid of that aim assist.

Forge Maps in Arena?
Why?
We, or at least I personally, want more actual maps.
(Side note: Why is pegasus so different now from before? There was nothing wrong before, but now it’s a huge camp fest at red base)
Enough forge maps…
Yeah, you added 4 new maps in the last update.
Except 2 of them were forge maps.
Give us actual maps.

Firefight / Spartan Ops / PvE Warzone
I want this.
Something.
IMO, firefight was fun.
Spartan Ops, was fun.
And Warzone, is fun.
We, as a community, want one of these.
All of them would be fun.
Give us something to do…
Personally, if we get Warzone as a PvE game, I wouldn’t mind seeing a single player version of it.
Why? I like playing alone.
Personally, I don’t always enjoy having to have teammates randomly paired with me.
Anyway, give us one, even if not for this game…for Halo 6.

Final Thoughts
Halo, is not dead.
Yet.
It has, obviously, taken a major hit.
After Bungie dropped the game, many “fans” have hated the games.
But, the series can get, I believe, back to its former glory.
But, if 343 mess up again…it will possibly die.
Very quickly.
Please 343, listen to the fans when you should, don’t let the series die.

Ok, I thought I’d seen everything. NOW I’ve seen everything. Complaining about aim assist for MELEE…just…wow…

Aside from that point, I actually agree with most of this list. I really love Halo 5. I think it’s a great game. But it could use some improvement. More playlists, more maps, more customization…Even more non-RNG unlocks. Previous Halo campaigns had great replay value, even if only for the unlocks. Here…I completed the game once. While I enjoyed the campaign…a LOT…there isn’t much of a point to play it again, as I can’t unlock anything. There is no feeling of accomplishment (Looking at you, Hayabusa H3).

And PVE Warzone…I remember the original forum post recommending it. I have been all for it since. I think there are over a hundred pages on that post now. I really hope 343 finds a way to implement it, either here in 5 or later in 6.

I’m probably just ranting now…sorry…

Edit to point out something about weekend playlists.
Why don’t we get to keep them?

Seriously, watch the video I linked. It is overpowered as hell.
That’s my main issue with the actual gameplay right now

The main problem with halo 5 is that they didn’t ask the community for suggestions when they were developing it. They went to these professional e sports guys. Things like “oh we don’t use radar in the tournaments, so that should be dumbed down.” “But every halo has had a consistent radar and no one seemed to complain about it. You sure this is a good change?” " ya no totally. We don’t like to use it. Also include aim acceleration because we all use elite controllers ". We still don’t have scarabs in forge, elephants were taken out entirely. Why? Why was the elephants taken out?!? Still can’t play as brutes and elites were taken out. Why? Why were elites taken out?!? This game isn’t for fun. This game is for no life competitive players who play ranked lone wolves 8 hours a day. I remember when custom games/social were the dominant focus of halo. This game has so much wasted potential… Jeez. This game isn’t even on par with the older halos let alone trying to surpass them.

They need to listen to everyone.
I mean, they’re trying to fix it.
But they really needed to listen when development started.
Having a pro team is good…but also bad.
Because they have too much impact.

I completely agree with this. So much time was put into developing Jul M’dama in Spartan Ops and then he’s dead in the first mission. What’s worse - you didn’t even get to fight him, it was just a cut scene.

Also, any idea what happened to the Janus key?
I have a feeling it will be in Halo Escalation.
But it never appears in Halo 5. Ever.

With that set of playlists, Ranked would be a freaking ghost town with everyone gravitating towards Social. Ranked needs a handful of modes to call its own so that it doesn’t die off. SWAT, CTF, and Breakout should stay exclusive to Ranked. Alongside this, there should be increased incentives to playing Ranked beyond an exclusive emblem.

Hopefully it will appear in Halo 6, but who knows when 343 are writing the story?

I would keep playing ranked…personally.
And CTF doesn’t need a separate playlist in Ranked.
Team Arena is fine for ranked.

I’ve always thought melee was used to punch who ever is standing in front of you. If they are on your screen, and within arm’s reach, melee. I don’t think I’ve EVER, for any game EVER, used my crosshairs for a melee attack…if they are within arms reach, punch. And may whoever punched first win.
Now if you were using a shotgun and there was an aim assist that bad, then I’d understand the complaint. But melee? Really?

It’s not like that in any of the other games.
You should need quick reactions to turn, look, melee.
Not just: get them on screen and punch.

I would be shocked if 343 actually uses a third of the suggestions.

Some are stupid, but they do need to listen to the community.

I like how everyone complains that the HUB world missions are to short, your not meant to rush the level your meant to spend ten minuets talking and exploring. By exploring the levels I’ve heard a lot of pretty unique and interesting dialogue.

I’m pretty sure the only Forge map in arena is Pegasus, not counting BTB.

If anything the game could use more of them. Would rather play on competitive forge maps than -Yoink- like…Overgrowth.

have the old Forge controls with all of the new items, more weapons maybe even some classics cough M6D Cough as well as more HUMAN Air vehicles. We all know 343 has the Coding, resources and model for a Pelican from Halo 4, just give it to us. Where is Infection? why such a complex Forge control scheme? these issues the community have had for a while. just fix them
