While playing yesterday I was prompted to install a controller update, and I immediately noticed an improvement in responsiveness. It’s hard to believe the issue was due to the controller itself when it worked fine in other games. Anyone else notice this?
I’m sure everyone else is on here complaining about it.
I do not know if it is subjective but it did feel more responsive after I updated my controller. Not in a good way thhough. I was over aiming heads. Maybe it was the alcohol though.

I really shouldn’t but this made me laugh.

Which controller do you have? The ones from the XB1 launch? the newer standard one since then? or the elite?

If you got the new dashboard roll out, I think it rolled out a controller update for everyone. I suspect that is the update OP is referring to.
where do you get controller updates? are these for regular controllers? I dont think I’ve gotten anything like that.

Check under your settings and accessories for an update if it hasn’t prompted you.

interesting, I’ll check that when I get home. I have day one controllers, does that matter?
ah ok cool. do i need to hard wire the controller to the xbox to get the update or can it do it wirelessly?

Doesn’t matter which controller. And I think you can do it wirelessly now. Not 100% on the latter.

Definitely checking this when I get home. Thanks for the info!
The game feels the same.
Controller must be wired and without a battery installed to update still.
If one’s issue is diagonal movement on a newer controller, ie, the Elite, but one also has a working “spare” controller; it appears loading the game with the Elite, then turning the controller off, then turning on the working controller, then it off as well. And then back to turning on the Elite, the diagonal bug doesn’t come back after a hard reset.
It has nothing to do with the controller, it works fine if you play Halo MCC or Black Flops III. 343i did change it after the BETA and they need to make it feel like Halo MCC

How were you prompted for the update, did the game issue the prompt or the XBOX ONE itself?

The Xbox.

It could be that whatever they changed within Halo 5’s code has weird side effects with the controller’s driver. I agree though, there was no reason to change the aiming. My deadzones are definitely fine now, but the inconsistent sensitivity and aim acceleration still need to be addressed.

I could do the update wirelessly! I wasn’t prompt to update it, but I had heard that there was button remapping now so while checking for it I saw that there was an update available for my controller.
As for the gameplay, it didn’t change anything, but I feel like 343i has already done something for it as I find it easier to aim now comparing to week 1 of launch. Maybe I’m just getting use to it also who knows…
