I just had to quit a 2 flag game on Deadlock becuase it was so unbalanced. The map’s sides are completely different.
2 sided gametypes don’t make sense on these maps!

Well I have found out is that the Grappleshot is next to the blue base in Highpower but not next to the red team base. Bummer
Breaker as well. Even tho I prefer it best out of all the BTB maps. If you’re on the ship side there’s more room for the enemy team to shred your team with a warthog or ghost than there is on the cliff side.
Sigh. You gotta be kidding me
They still don’t make any sense whatsoever if you ask me. I don’t understand why they’re part of “2 sided gametypes.”
Neither was Sandtrap, Blood Gulch, or Valhalla. Just saying.
Why do you guys keep commenting on topics from 2021? It’s 2023 now. These users don’t even use the forums anymore. This topic is from the betas.
Originally deleted my post because I didn’t mean to necro a year-old post but the forum’s suggested thread feature suggested it to me and I didn’t check the date.
But, since people are adding new views I’ll share my sentiments.
Agree with the OP. Asymmetrical map design is not good for symmetrical gamemodes, which is unfortunate because symmetrical gamemodes are my favorite, but add to that there are no asymmetrical gamemodes in BTB, so why even bother making the maps asymmetrical?
I would take solid balanced gameplay over unique map locations any day of the week. Just because Halo is a casual couch shooter doesn’t mean I want unbalanced game design impacting my matches.
In regard to Sandtrap, that’s true, but it was also built around the Elephants being your mobile base and both teams had one and both were the same. Blood Gulch wasn’t perfectly symmetrical but again the main area around the bases were and the features surrounding the bases and their routes were comparable.
They did this in Infinite for the map Fragmentation which in my opinion both plays the best as a BTB map and also provides the most fair gameplay. But maps like Breaker and High Power don’t even try to do this with the balance of the bases being totally skewed.
Dang you right. But those maps flowed better
All three of those maps played much better than these Halo Infinite BTB maps. Technically, you’re spot on in the sense of symmetrical, but the game worked much much better.
It’s not just the map design but also weapon and vehicle spawns, some maps favour one side more than the other when it comes to heavy vehicle spawns. Also weapon spawns are laughable at best and can completely destroy the flow of the game.
The maps aren’t BTB’s issue, it’s the bugged vehicle/weappn spawns.
Asymmetrical maps on symmetrical game types have always been in Halo. The maps have never had different vehicles for each team though, which is what Infinite is doing that’s making BTB games feel so crappy
