A little bit confused and frustrated with the fact there’s no descope present for the weapons that have generic smart link instead of a unique zoom (Pistol, AR, Shotgun, ETC). There doesn’t seem to be any reason NOT to smart link and although it’s only a small precision boost, it kind of seems like it makes certain weapons less effective. The BR doesn’t really have a range advantage over the AR because it gets descoped and the AR doesn’t, that sort of thing. Anyone else feel the same way or am I overreacting?
I completely agree I think this problem is honestly so apparent with the sniper rifle they should allow u to keep aiming while being shot it becomes near impossible to snapshot the gun on controller when the bots lock on to u
its very strange to have virtually no penalty for scoping in. seems like you may as well hold down RT/M2 the entire time while using smartlink weapons. even call of duty penalizes you for ADS with a sharp movement speed debuff

But is there really any benefit to zooming in either?
I never noticed a really increase in accuracy or anything, only a slightly further range for the ‘red reticle’ in smart link.

I don’t think ADS improves accuracy at all

ADS does in fact help with aiming. It isn’t much, but it’s enough to interfere with the longer range weapons’ place in the sandbox IMO

Pretty much a fact at this point

Maybe in terms of Red Reticule Range, which means that autoaim/bullet magnetism kicks in at farther distances. On their own though I haven’t seen any change in bullet accuracy that is solely caused by zooming the way that ADS did in H5G, and I tested every single weapon that was available in the shooting range of the academy by firing at the wall and comparing the spread. I could still be wrong, though, and it certainly doesn’t help that the bullets hardly leave any decals on the walls.
EDIT: I have to correct myself, I just looked at my footage again and I can definitely see that the sniper has spread when unscoped but none when in zoom. Although it seems to be the only weapon with a change (as far as I can tell at least).
It’s frustrating with the commando, the recoil feels non-existent when firing at the HIP but ADS you struggle to hit the broad side of a barn.

It’s just a visual effect, though, because during zoom you see a smaller field of view that moves more quickly. The actual recoil itself doesn’t change.

That’s interesting! Though it should change when you ADS to have less recoil shouldn’t it?
Smart-Link should NOT affect the RRR of them either, but it does. Radar also stays active while Smart-Linked. It just honestly should be taken out.

Why would it? How would looking at a weapon differently change the way it fires?
Smart-link is just a further implementation of the Spartans reticle in the visor. You don’t lose your reticle when shot at… It wouldn’t make any sense for the software to bug out every time your shot.
You can’t physically flinch away from something attached to your face. They could jerk the Smart-link reticle a bit simulating the flinch of jerking the weapon.
