I’ve heard that once you reach the next tier of level (silver,gold,platinum,diamond,onyx) no matter how bad you play, you cannot be deranked to a lower tier.
Firstly is this true? If so why?
If i was to play better than my average in the first 10 games and got matched with good teammates/ played with friends who are much better than me, we would win and i would get placed in a higher division than my skill level.
If i then deviate back to my mean level, i’m going to play terribly in comparison to everyone else in the game. Is this a good thing?
I’m not sure that is the case. I’ve believe you can be dropped down to the next tier, but don’t quote me on it.
If you are diamond 1 you cannot be deranked to plat 6. You can however be deranked from onyx and that other one I forget the name of xD (the pro one).

Yeah so basicly after reaching a new divion one cannot be de ranked, personally I hat this I feel like if you play bad no matter what division you should get demoted.
It’s probably to avoid excessively demotivating people who have a string of bad games. Can you imagine the posts we would see about incompetent teammates then?
It would be nice to be given the option to be demoted if you do poorly and feel like you should be ranked lower.

It’s also done this way to prevent intentional de-ranking. Which is a real thing, believe me. Anyway, all ranks will re-set for all players for all play lists… at some point. Arena will eventually be run by seasons and if you find that you’ve been ranked too high then you’ll just have to wait a month for a new season to start. We’re in an initial “pre-season” right now and nobody seems to know how long it lasts.
Well eventually the worse players will get stuck in higher tiers and the ok players will rank up and in turn ranking up the good players. Theoretically, eventually most of the player base will be around top-rank. But if people never even get to the higher tier, then it will remain as it is now.
A great way to do really well is purposely let your skill rank drop to Csr (whatever tier you are) 1, wait a week, then get back on and destroy the noobs stuck at the bottom of the tier.
Getting demoted because of a loss even if you have a positive K/D is retarded. I don’t really feel like it’s my rank if other players can affect it. I’ve been demoted after having a 20/5 ratio because of the 0/14 guy causing us to lose.
I think you should be able to de-rank all the way down to bronze, because people can start to suck. And if you suck and you are stuck in diamond you will get pooped all over.
